Bill, I can agree with this line of thinking, I'm sure the rich and famous wouldn't, but the guys that finish behind them would, 2nd, where I come from, isn't first loser, and even that sometimes would be like a win, I suppose at one time, the big money was paid to the top, maybe to draw pine knots, and a few of the money guys, but still, without the other 22-30 cars, and crews, and fans, where would that money come from? I proposed a payout for our group this season, and got laughed at, it cut a big whack out of the top, but sent everyone home with at least a C note to stuff in their blue jeans, which to me, brings in more cars, fans, and lets not forget the concession stand. JMHO, laugh if you got one! Bob!

Since the overall sprint car feature payout is $7400 and positions 10-20 pays a total of $2,200, I'm going to keep those figures.

1st $1,400
2nd $800
3rd $700
4th $550
5th $450
6th $400
7th $350
8th $300
9th $275
10th $250
11th $240
12th $230
13th $220
14th $210
15th $200
16th $190
17th $180
18th $170
19th $160
20th $150
It's close... $7,425 total (The racer in me, added $25 ) and positions 10-20 still pays a total of $2,200

From a promotional standpoint, $2000 to win and 200 to start just sounds better than $1400 to win, $150 to start. It's a delicate balance that needs to be thought out but as a promoter the bottomline is what is going to bring in more cars and more fans.

Now, we've seen a few tracks do a purse increase based on car count but what about adding a different conditional... an attendance based purse increase? It is possible to get 40 sprint cars and have a very low general admission attendance. Anyone remember Vermilion County Speedway.

Let's also not forget that I would be a new promoter with a lot of learning to do. I'm sure running a successful race track is much easier said than done.
In this scenario, I owe LPS a $10 refund for the year.

The weather looks like it is going to be great! Do I just present/exchange my tickets from the monsoon two weeks ago at the ticket booth?
