The odds of drawing even a break even crowd without the fair would be slim to none.

Ran into Sargent at the ARCA race today...not looking good boys

Looking like the first time since the 60's that there has been no race at Du Quoin in a given year

Well I will give the proper salute to Sargent for this: Thanks hole You did it to the Hoosier Hundred and now you are doing it to the Ted Horn 100.

Unscrupulous promoters appearantly are still alive and kickin.

Yes, that was the one that Richie Tobias started shotgun in the semi, won it, started shotgun in the 100 miler and won it.

That wasn't the same car, of course. He destroyed his car in the first-turn crash at Springfield, which was a very, very scary one. The car he ran at Du Quoin was originally intended to be his Mopar Million SPRINT CAR, but faced with the results of Springfield, he prepared that car for Du Quoin and ended up winning the race in one of the best races I've ever seen, and without a doubt the best Silver Crown race I've ever seen...

Again...I'd suggest visiting the link that Kev wrote regarding that race. It is informative, and brings some resonance to this event which all witnesses I've spoken with consider as a throwback Silver Crown race of the kind that simply doesn't take place any longer.

I think in Richie's case you should call it "slingshot" instead of "shotgun"
