Owen Tames Waynesfield, Grabs Second BOSS Win of Season

Coming into the evening at Waynesfield Raceway Park, Harrison, Ohio’s Justin Owen had one goal in mind which was to Win. That he did. Owen mastered the top side of a slick, tricky WRP curb and found his way to his second triumph of the season and his third career series win as a part of the 7th Annual Dick Spencer Memorial at the Waynesfield, Ohio 1/3 mile facility.

The 21 year old also knew coming into the one off weekend for the Rick’s Truck and Equipment Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series that he had some work to do in hopes of claiming his first career Series Championship in this 2017 season. Starting 4th in American Racer/Lias Tire Heat 2 Owen powered to a 2nd place finish behind Paul Dues to begin his night. He would draw the 2 pill in the redraw and start outside Pole for the 25 Lap A-Main. Right away in the main event, Owen took the top side starting spot to his advantage and led all 25 laps and held off a yellow flag with 9 to go to claim his third series Victory. Owen came into the evening sitting 2nd in Series points 57 behind leader and 2012 Series Champion Dustin Smith.

Smith meanwhile started 11th and Finished 18th in the Feature event. Along with his 3rd place Heat finish, Smith scored 179 points in on track action tonight. Cincinnati, Ohio’s Michael Fischesser came into the evening 3rd in Series points and finished 1st in his heat race and made a late charge to finish 5th in the A-Main. With his finishes tonight, Fischesser grabbed 230 points towards his title fight. Steve Little, currently 5th in BOSS Points recorded his career best finish by putting his 53 machine into the 4th spot once the checkers flew.

Overall 33 Non Wing Sprints helped pack the pits and in the end it was a BOSS Regular Justin Owen stealing the thunder from the Waynesfield regulars.

The BOSS Sprints are back in action with a doubleheader in the Hoosier State July 28th at Route 44 Speedway in Liberty, Indiana on Friday night and then move on a night later to the legendary Lawrenceburg Speedway one evening later on July 29th for two great evenings of Sprint Car racing in Indiana.
