Midgets Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series Set For Saturday, September 19th Finale
Following a successful BOSS sprint car event featuring 40 sprint cars, the Montpelier Motor Speedway will switch gears to the equally as fast and wild Midgets. The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series presented by the Leaders Edge (Indianapolis, Indiana) will head into the season finale this Saturday night, September 19th. An intense battle for the win will likely ensue along with a tight championship points battle to crown the Midget Series champion. The series is averaging 24 cars per event with no car counts lower than 23 entries.

The September 5th event saw 23 Midgets checked in for battle. Chett Gehrke picked up the feature after surviving multiple battles for the lead position to become the first repeat winner of the 2015 season in the Midget division. Gage Walker overcame a 10th position starting spot to pick up 2nd place swapping multiple positions in the final lap with Rob Parrish and Shane Hollingsworth. Nick Speidel rounded out the top 5. Scott Hatton was the hard charger advancing 15 positions during the 20 lap event. Heat race winners included Rob Parish, Kevin Willis in his first MMS start, and Gehrke.

Walker will again enter the final event as the current MMS points leader holding a slim 14 point advantage (7 positions on the race track) over Gehrke. Gehrke currently holds the tie-breaker virtue his 2 MMS feature wins. Current Rookie of the Year leader, Gage Etgen followed by Speidel, Parish, Davey Ray, Hollingsworth, Bear Woods, Justin Dickerson, and Cole Fehr maintain the current top 10. The top 10 finishers at season end will receive a trophy and cash points pay rewarded to driver at our track banquet. In addition to the trophy and cash payout, the Series Champion and the Rookie of the Year will also receive an embroidered jacket for their accomplishments.

General Admission will be $12 with Kids (12 and Under) – FREE!

Will visiting Midget drivers be required to buy a license at the full price for this last race?

I still have a mathematical chance to crack the top ten if someone, some wonderful, generous soul (too strong?) would find it in their heart to put me in a ride. For those of you wondering, I do know how to push start; to quote Ms Patrick, "It's not my fault".
If not, next year the Yellow Zonker will be back better than ever, and I'll be behind the wheel, back and, well, older than ever...

The Montpelier Motor Speedway is forced to cancel tonight’s racing event due to the rainfall we received overnight and this morning. We were attempting to wait it out but the cold and cloud cover is not drying the facility fast enough for us to race.

Our next event will be Saturday, September 26 with the Ignite 40 featuring the UMP Modifieds racing for $3000 To Win / $300 To Start along with a 2nd UMP Modified feature, Super Streets, Thunder Cars, FWD, and Mod Lites. Thanks for your support!
