It doesn't seem possible, but 25 years have passed since we lost Rich Vogler at Salem. I was in attendance that evening. Rich put on a display of driving that was unbelievable; he was so dominant that he was preparing to lap second place Jeff Gordon when the accident occurred. I still miss him!

Absolutely one of the best I've seen. His versatility with pavement and dirt, winning on both frequently, and midget, sprint or silver crown, Rich could do it all. I often wonder where he would have ended up had it not been for his tragic accident. I feel privileged to have been able to watch him race.

I missed the Salem race on TV, but I remember finding out about the tragedy when I tuned into the NASCAR race at Pocono that he had qualified for earlier. Sad deal all the way around it was.

Man.... 25 years.....

I remember watching that race on TV. It was very sad day.

I only got to see Rich race one time in a Midget at Williams Grove and he won that night. He was so much faster than the others for that race.

I remember I was leaving the Kings Royal and heard someone say "Vogler was killed" It was like someone gut punched me. The whole drive home (5 hours ) spent it dialing the radio trying to found if it was true. Never found out till home and turned on ESPN Sports Center even then just couldn't believe it.
