MUST SEE RACING XTREME SPRINT
SERIES ADDS ROCKFORD SPEEDWAY’S
49th NATIONAL SHORT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

Dave Sink
January 11, 2014

Must See Racing and Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, Illinois announce today the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series will join the 49th National Short Track Championships lineup on September 26, 27 & 28th ,2014.

“We are ecstatic to add the National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway to our 2014 schedule. Rockford Speedway is a first class facility in an excellent racing market. The event is steeped in tradition, rich in history and recognized as one of America’s iconic and important national short track racing events. This is a great addition for our series, schedule, race teams and fans,” said MSR founder and President Jim Hanks.

Toledo, Ohio’s Jimmy McCune, the 2011 Rockford MSR feature winner added,
”Rockford Speedway’s fast high banks will be a real challenge for the Must See race teams. The fifty lap feature will be very competitive and give everyone enough laps to compete for the win. I sure enjoyed our 2011 visit taking home the feature win, parking the car in victory lane and meeting the fans. I’m really looking forward to the September race and I can’t wait to get back to Rockford.”

“Moving the original Rockford date presented a scheduling opportunity to have a late season MSR event closer to home for our teams and allowed us to race at Auto City Speedway in Clio, Michigan two nights in a row on Thursday July 3rd and Friday July 4th. Michigan has very passionate, avid and loyal sprint car race fans that have been great supporting MSR events. We will soon make announcements about a new, different and unique format for the two day Auto City event,” concluded Hanks.

Aaron Pierce of Daleville, Indiana put on a spectacular display of speed and driving skill at last year’s Auto City event. After being delegated to the back of the field, following a second lap spin out, Aaron piloted his Sam Pierce Chevrolet sponsored sprinter through the entire very talented field to take the feature victory. When MSR television pit reporter Dave Argabright said “that couldn't have been much fun having to come from the back” Aaron responded, “Are you kidding, that was a whole lotta of fun”.

Also noticed that the Brickyard week race @ Lucas Oil Raceway went bye-bye too. No Winchester. No Supermodified series. Don't know what is happening here.

Odd that the race on the 5th turned into a race on the 4th. There is a wing race scheduled at Winchester for the 4th under The King of the Wing series. Wing pavement racing is never going to thrive when nobody is willing to work together.

Toledo has posted their AVSS date and Berlin has posted their MSR dates while Winchester has posted nothing. In fact, at this point only 2 of the 6 tracks the King of the Wing series announced have put this series on their respective schedules. I think the concept of national pavement sprint series is awesome. I can see stops in the Southeast, Northwest, and Rocky Mountain areas eventually.

Guess we'll see how it plays out.

I just hope like heck the Rockford race ends up on TV...I know we've all heard the phrase "Like Jet Fighters In a Gymnasium" before but 20 winged 410 cars at Rockford will totally be a great example of that.
