Emmy Gray is one of the regulars on the Honda USAC Ignite Dirt Midget Series. She is in her 2nd year of college, and her education is her priority.
Her Dad, who takes care of the car, and all of the mechanics on it, was called away last minute on business just before Dirt Midget week commenced.

Undeterred, and wanting to run, Mom stepped in, and helped Emmy load the car, and get it to the track.... Hoping to just race it, and not have any issues since Dad was not there.
Well, as the Racing Gods often do, trouble found her right away in practice.
Emmy did a half spin, but kept the car going straight. But while just trying to get back to speed, she was hit by another car. Weekend done for Mom and daughter, right?
Nope.
Owners from other teams stepped in and went to work. Kenny Nemire dug out a spare Bird Cage and Jacobs Ladder, while other owners Brian Walker, Rick Thomason, and Jeff Clouse jumped in, and started getting the damaged pieces off the car. Even former owner of the 2012 Ignite Series championship car Mr. Rankine (sorry, don't know is first name) jumped in, and finished putting the pieces together.

As you can see in the pic, Emmy was pretty overwhelmed by it all, and Mom was more than grateful for everyones help to get the car back on track.

Some impromtu Sportsmanship awards from Indy Race Parts and Earl's Indy were handed out to those who helped!

Just thought this was pretty cool, and wanted to share.

Great job, stories like this are what needs to be on the news at night instead of the garbage they show. Hats off to all who helped.
