I never knew him personally, In fact never met him. But to say he has been part of my life since I can remember would be a Understatement.
Rest in Peace Chris and give us that great commentary from Heaven!
Thoughts and Prayers to the family for comfort.

Chris's weekly column and The National Speed Sport News was some of the greatest racing information ever printed, he will be missed.

Some of my earliest racing memories are of Chris on ABC's Wide World of Sports.

A very sad day.

RIP Chris.

A huge part of our racing world has just left us. RIP Chris. The man who brought the racing world to every part of the country with his NSSN publication. Thursday was always a special day when I got home and opened the mail box. I always looked forward to his column especially since he had a finger on the pulse of the industry. Condolences to all on this loss.

I had the distinct honor of interviewing Mr. Economaki in 2003 at the Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. I used to host a National TV Show called No Speed Limit. I was competing in the D.I.R.T. Pro Stock Nationals and I was leaning in my car and heard a very distinct voice ask, "how much do these cars weigh". I didn't even have to look and I knew who it was asking that question; Mr. Chris Economaki. You can still hear that voice; so distinctive.

I told Mr. E he was always the one doing the interviewing so would he entertain being interviewed for No Speed Limit. It was such an honor for me to have the opportunity to get Mr. E's perspective on Racing for the Show. Here's the kicker; he said, "We'll have to limit the interview to 20 minutes; I have to catch a flight to China in 2 hours". At the time I believe he was 83 years young and still hitting it hard.

A great man. It was truly my pleasure. RIP Mr. E.

Waiting for NSSN to show up in the mailbox was the highlight of the week. And his weekly column of tidbits was alone worth the price of the paper. Sad day with his passing.

I made many lifelong friends selling the Speed Sport in the early to late 90's. Will never forget the day he called me after I responded to his request for a sales rep in his column...he didn't even have to say who he was...I knew who he was as soon as I heard his voice on the phone. He was a great guy and was good as gold to me.
