St. Louis midget legend Bud Hoppe, passed away this past Wednesday. Bud was a multi-time midget champion and gave Kenny Schrader his start in midget racing while helping countless others in the sport. He will be greatly missed by our racing community. Here is the link for the arrangements.

I recall seeing Kenny Schrader drive Bud's midget at USAC indoor events (Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne, I believe). I distinctly remember that Kenny was using one of those gadgets that supposedly "turned open-face helmets into full-face" the first time I saw him at an indoor event. I think Bud's car was a Kurtis/Chevy II at the time.
