been to dayton many times. saw sonny ates set the world record in the Iddings car, saw parnelli, AJ etc and i guess i attended the most races during the larry & gary show era and, for some reason, i remember being impressed with a guy by the name of cy fairchild during the larry & gary era.

I remember the track and the steep rutted drive to the pits.

Saw many races there. One of my last memories of the track is when Gary B. set a new qual record of 16 seconds flat in the Ace Nut & Bolt Special (my recall faculties are off more and more so feel free to correct me.)

We mostly stood in the infield and watched.

Oldtimer that I am, I also watched many great races there. My favorite might have been the Jan Opperman win in the Longhorn Racers (or somethin' like that) car. Until then I had thought of Opp as pretty much a "dirt only" guy, not that there is anything wrong with that. :wink Sonny Ates in the Iddings car was breathtakingly fast there.

Saw several races. In the late '60s we would see a race there. A week later we would watch the same race on TV a week later on Dayton's channel 22.

I seen my first race in 1946! We used to go to all the roaring roadsters on the 1/4 mile and all the big car races! First time i seen lloyd ruby he was driving a midget on the half mile dirt at the bottom of the high banks! A night race!
