Buckeye Machine BOSS Sprints Headed for Eldora "Family Fun Night"

In just 2 short seasons, The Buckeye Machine BOSS traditional sprint car series has taken giant strides in returning sprint car racing back to its roots. This Saturday May 17th will mark the third event on the 16 race 2014 tour and is the perfect setting to resurrect more sprint car nostalgia as the brave BOSS competitors get ready to tackle the "Big E". Officially known as Eldora Speedway, the historic Darke County 1/2 mile oval is arguably the most significant dirt track in the nation and unquestionably one of the most intimidating for drivers. To win a BOSS event means a driver's name will go down in history. However, for a driver to win a BOSS war atop the hallowed ground of Eldora Speedway, then his name will echo through the ages.

This weekend's event will mark the first time the Buckeye Machine BOSS series will headline "Family Fun Night". In 2 previous events at Eldora, the series had 33 and 54 cars signed in respectively. The 54 car field back in October marked the highest car count of any sprint car event held in the Buckeye state in 2013. With this Saturday's event being held in the heart of race season, a lot of other tracks will be in competition this same night. Despite that fact, Eldora Speedway and BOSS officials still expect a stellar field of entrants.

Leading the gladiators of the BOSS series into battle will be the "The High Side Hustler" Michael Fischesser of Cincinnati, Ohio. The 21 year old driver of the Amsoil #4 has found himself the early season points leader on the heels of 4th and 3rd place finishes respectively. In close pursuit is "The Magic Man" Mike Miller in the #82 out of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Miller was 3rd in last year's points and sits second already despite the fact he has yet to win a BOSS event. He manages to magically appear in the top 5 at most events and will be in search of his first series win this Saturday night.

Also on the prowl this Saturday night will be a trio of proven BOSS stars. Past BOSS champions Tony Beaber and Dustin Smith along with last years points runner-up Brandon Spithaler will all be hard on the throttle in search of Eldora glory. For Beaber of Gibsonburg, Ohio, the "Big E" was the sight of last year's Rocky-like performance. Beaber had gone toe to toe through all the rounds of the BOSS title fight, only to be "knocked down" in the final round after a violent flip in hot laps at the points finale. Yet Beaber went to a backup car and raced into the night's main event and ran well enough to secure the title. Likewise, The Russiaville, Indiana leadfoot Dustin Smith overcame adversity on the famous half mile to score the inaugural BOSS title in 2012. Smith lost power in a heat race and had to battle through the B-Main. Then mounted a furious charge from deep in the field to ironically snare the championship from none other than Beaber himself. Spithaler, of Evans City, Pennsylvania, was very much in the title hunt a year ago and the Keystone Kid is coming to Eldora looking to place his name on the legendary list of Eldora victors.

Some other drivers the fans will see include the ageless veterans of BOSS Chuck Wilson of Perrysburg, Ohio and one of the "Original Outlaws" Johnny Beaber of Gibsonburg. Aaron Middaugh of Polk, Chad Wilson of Toledo, Kirk Jeffries of Westerville, and Lewie Christian of West Jefferson will all be representing the Buckeye state. Representing the Keystone state of Pennsylvania will be Adam Miller of McDonald who led 16 laps of the last BOSS event, along with "The Beekeeper" Bob McMillin and Joe Butera both of Wampum, PA. Several drivers from outside the BOSS ranks have also expressed an interest in the event. Fans are likely to see several surprise entrants come race day.

Joining the BOSS sprints for "Family Fun Night" at Eldora will be the UMP Modifieds along with the Eldora Speedway Stock Cars. Adult general admission is only $8 and pit passes are an incredibly low $20. The night's activities will begin with an autograph session in the "Fan Zone" which will be from 4:30 to 5:30. At 6 pm the pill draw will close and the driver's meeting will begin. BOSS competitors will fire motors at 6:20 with hot laps at 6:30. Opening ceremonies will begin at 7:15 pm with BOSS heat races up first at 7:30. Many activities for the kids will take place along with a special guest appearance by "Bucky" the BOSS Beaver. At 10 pm there will also be a fireworks display.

The Buckeye Machine BOSS series will once again provide bonus awards and heat race payouts courtesy of fine sponsors like Burdette Builders of Sunman, Indiana, Lias Tire/American Racer of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Hoosier Tire Midwest, Indy Race Parts, The Bridge Restaurant of Sidney, Ohio, Hochstetler Trucking of Perrysville, Ohio, Lynn Cook, a Racer's Friend, and Southeast Harley Davidson of Cleveland, Ohio. Advertising opportunities with the series are available for one time events or for season long commitments. As always, the BOSS series thanks Buckeye Machine and Marshall Motorsports owner Ray Marshall for their title sponsorship securing that well over $15,000 in cash and prizes will be paid out to the top 15 in BOSS points in 2014.

Is this show still a go for today? Raining in Dayton, and Waynesfield has cancelled. I couldn't find any type of status on the Eldora site or Facebook page.

Denny, I'll get a white one so we don't look like twins! I'm still helping Adam Miller....probably get fired after two minutes on the job with my "technical prowess"....no power tools or sharp objects for me See you guys up there.

Thanks Duane and the rest forbthe replies!
