What gear sets or ratios are needed for a 3.78 midget on 1/5, 1/4 and 3/8 mile tracks? I know there are many variables but in general so I can begin to buy some used sets. Thanks

You can probably use anything from a set #6, thru set #20, there are some nice one's on eBay right now for $35.00 a set, I'd buy them all at that price! Bob

Not sure if the numbers have any specific significance (I think they're just assigned by the manufacturer, could be wrong), but attached is the chart I use for the 4.11 & 4.86 rear end. Pretty sure the set # is more or less consistent across manufacturers.

This is the winters 6 spline chart. Find the set number on the chart and go across to the ring and pinion you have to find the ratio of that gear set. |
