Lawrenceburg, Indiana…….For the second-straight year, Bryan Clauson took home $10,000 as the AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship wrapped up the Midwest portion of the schedule before heading west in November for the final four races of the 2014 calendar. The Noblesville, Indiana driver took his fifth win of the season in wire-to-wire fashion, holding off National point leader Brady Bacon and registering his 30th career victory with the series.

Clauson led from the front row over Chase Stockon in a race that went 25-straight laps under green. Bacon quickly nabbed second as Stockon was trying to stick in the top-five. Bacon kept pace with Clauson throughout, and continually looked low through turns three and four as they negotiated traffic. He never could pull even and Clauson opened up his advantage before a caution with five laps to go for Dave Darland, who had a flat right-rear tire. He returned at the tail of the field.

Bacon moved alongside Clauson as the two completed the 26th lap but was unable to uproot Clauson from his perch in the lead on the high side. He again pulled away with the lead as spring Lawrenceburg winner Justin Grant moved past Jon Stanbrough for fourth and closed on Tracy Hines.

Another stoppage with two laps to go set up a green-white-checker finish, but this time Bacon had no threat for Clauson, as the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing – Chevy Performance #20 Beast/Kistler took a .593-second win.

“Tonight is a big win for us. The car was good all night, and very forgiving more than anything. You don’t see me win too many races up on the curb at Lawrenceburg, but these guys made my job easy. We’re at the point of needing to win races and letting the points fall where they may – we didn’t gain on Brady tonight but this is a good send-off to the last four races out west,” Clauson said.

Bacon protected his 51-point lead in the National standings with his runner-up finish aboard the Hoffman Auto Racing – Mean Green #69 Triple X/Williams Mopar.

“We would have needed him to fall asleep and make a major mistake or something to get him. I tried the bottom for all it was worth throughout the race, and it just wasn’t enough. He doesn’t make many mistakes, and tonight none were big enough to capitalize on. We’ve gotten going really well the last few races and hopefully we can take that momentum with us to try to close out the championship,” Bacon said.

Hines rounded out the podium in his The Carolina Nut Company – Hansen’s Welding #4 DRC/Stanton Chevy.

“It was key to qualify so well. Tonight is not my prototypical strong track, running the cushion that high up there. Our car was good and we’ve found some things with motors that have made them more driveable,” Hines said.

Grant came home fourth in the Mark Hery Racing – Racing for Kinser Clayton #40 DRC/Claxton, while Jerry Coons, Jr. snuck past Stanbrough on the final lap for the fifth spot in the Edison Motorsports – Crume Evans Insurance #10E Spike/Chevy.

Well not going into recap mode as all the results are posted. Not going to say the racing was awesome but the feature stayed intense, With Bacon always there ready to pounce on any mistake by BC. Bob kept the check in safe keeping all day ready for BC to actually win it. Bryan, Now Bob wants to know if he can get Gas Money back to Cali

The heats had excellent racing, especially for the transfer spot. Although most wins came in walk off, The racing, second on back was some of the best I've seen.

Wow, Where did this year go? Seems like just yesterday when Grant Split Darland and Stanbrough to take the spring win?

Had a great night, Seen lots of great people. Kelly and Mike I finally got to say hi to after missing them the few times we were in the same place. Got to meet a few new people rrom IOW and FB that I've chatted with for awhile and some bench racing with long time friends.

The Balloon Launch for Kinser was simply breathtaking and Stanbrough Launching one on the warmup lap for the featurer was awesome. Burg lost a push truck driver on the way to the track and this is another sad reminder. Enjoy what you have and what you can do while you can. Lifes too short, WE ENJOYED TONIGHT and hope everyone can have many more great times.

Chuck, thanking Teams,Drivers, Burg Crew and Promotors for another great year.

Perfect weather, great crowd, outstanding field of competitors, and, best of all, one more chance this season to exchange "howdys" with racing family. Section "A" (8 ?) was chock full of good friends. It was expecially nice to see old buddy Dave Foist (SprintManDave) who arrived along with Danny Burton and young Braxton. Also in the "A" mix were Ed Kempf, Gregg, Mike Padfield (Mud Packer) and Kelly (RacinBabe), another Mike (dirt330), Jerry Shaw (rolling in from Terre Haute), Dan Hetser (Dirtfan) and Nancy, Ben Andres, Chris Smith (smith19), plus Todd and Leann Clemons (who brought their new friend Ed from Smackdown and once more homemade cookies for all ). Hope I didn't miss anyone, but hey, I'm old and forgetful. Bob Gatten stopped by for a bit as did Jim and Karen Rudisell (on the mend from knee surgery). Good to see John Mugavin (wallbanger II). Had been concerned about him since his scooter mishap at Moler Raceway recently. He's doing fine says he. Also enjoyed brief exchanges with Jac Haudenschild who I hadn't seen in some time. Parked his motorhome and souvenir trailer in front of my truck in the parking area necessitating a Sierra move by me if I hoped to get out before daylight, but hey, he's Jac Haudenschild. Only too happy to accomodate his rig.

Couple of racing comments; I'm always amazed to see the work these guys can accomplish in the pits. This time it was Robert Ballou swapping engines after his heat and finishing in time to run top ten (8th) in the feature. My boy Landon Simon just edged another of my boys, KRod for the final transfer spot in the "B", then, as is often the case, had rotten luck in the feature. Yet another of our Section "A" favorites, Chad Boespflug won his heat and moved from the tail to 13th in the feature in the Baldwin Bros. #5 ride. This looks like a combination to keep our eyes on for the final 2014 meets as well as the coming 2015 season.

There I go again (like Jimmy Carter?) running off at the keyboard . Y'all have a GREAT offseason. See you in 2015 if not at Eldora for the BOSS finale.
