A great big tip of the hat to Pat Sullivan on this article in the January issue of Sprnt & Mdgt magazine.
As a fan that hits the hiways & byways, traveling thru the midwest to see approx. 40-50 races a season, this truly, is a passion (some say addiction) with me. I've been a fan since a little kid, with the past 20 years having been my most active. I can very much relate to traveling such great distances, to only end up with a rained out event. Even in these days of instant communication that has, and still happens. No one likes to feel they have wasted their hard earned money. I am not alone in this mileage/travel and I believe that many tracks don't realize that either. I think if they were to check, they might find a good % of fans in attendane, have traveled from more than 50 miles away. I have ideas how I might handle that and keep my customers satisfied but will not elaborate. Still, I try to make the best of it and keep the positives thoughts going as I head back home. Thank you Dr. Sullivan, for the analyzation.
