1997 BUDWEISER OVAL NATIONALS CHAMPION ENTERS THIS YEARS RACE!

(Perris, CA, September 9, 2011) Rip Williams, winner of the 2nd Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals in 1997 and a member of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, has submitted his entry for the 16th running of the race at Perris Auto Speedway on November 3rd, 4th and 5th.

The 55-year-old Yorba Linda, California resident, who was CRA Co-Rookie of the Year 33-years ago in 1978, currently sits eighth in Amsoil USAC/CRA points. The 2004 USAC/CRA champion will be joined in the Budweiser Oval Nationals by his two oldest sons, Cody and Austin. Heading into Thursday's race at Chico, Austin, a 20-year-old iron worker, was fourth in USAC/CRA points while Cody, a 22-year-old student at Cal State Fullerton, is ranked sixth.

Keeping with the family theme, the 20-year-old Vander Weerd twins, Jace and Richard, from Visalia, California, have also entered the prestigious race. Going into this weekend's USAC West Coast 360 race at Giant Chevrolet King's Speedway in Hanford, California, Richard sits on top of the championship points standings with Jace ranked third. In addition to their two entries, their car owner and father, Ron Vander Weerd, has also entered a third car without a driver.

In addition to the Oval Nationals the "Legends of Ascot Match Race" will take place on Friday, November 4th. The race will pit the top two in USAC/CRA points, top two in USAC National points and one wild card driver in a series of four, four-lap races for a first place prize that is has already exceeded $7,000.00.

The Budweiser Oval Nationals, "America's Most Prestigious Traditional Sprint Car Race," will be a full points paying event for the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car and the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series'. In addition, it attracts other top stars from around the nation.

In addition to the 410 Sprint Cars, the popular California Lightning Sprint Cars will also be in action on Friday and Saturday.
