IOW Race Fans-

FYI, after last night, we've had 3 ASCS sanctioned races in 2009 and the furthest up anyone has won from is the 3rd row.

And last night we had 2 first-time racers (at Cowtown) from AZ that finished a very respectable 4th and 12th place in the A feature...the wide track surface with multiple grooves allows for faster cars to advance and gives out of area drivers a chance to quickly adapt to the racing surface.

If you'd like to get a taste of some of Saturday night's wild Cowtown Speedway ASCS sprint action, please go to:

http://www.youtube.com/user/DarinShortcom

Four video clips from the feature race are up. Note: all drivers were reported uninjured in the accidents.

And if you'd like to see a recap of the night, please visit:

http://www.pushinthecushin.com then click on the 'live update' link for 8/29.

Thank you for 'Pushin being on hand to provide live updates throughout the night to those fans not able to attend.

And click http://www.ASCSracing.com for more pictures and recaps.

Hope some of you can make it back again this year to our big fall line up:

Early Entries and Manufacturer Awards Rolling In For Cowtown Sprint Nationals

Kennedale, TX (9/9/09) by DarinShort.com. Kicking off exactly one month from today’s date, October 9-10, will mark the largest total track purse in Cowtown Speedway history with the running of the 2nd Annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals (CSN) presented by ShopTheBoss.com and Lone Star Speedway.

A staggering 2-day purse in excess of $85,000 will be on the line. The sprint winner on Friday night’s 30-lapper will take home $2,000 and $8,000 will await the winner of the 35-lap ASCS sprint finale on Saturday October 10th. Joining the sprint cars will be the 9th annual Topless 100, the Topless Limited Modifieds and the Winged 600’s Championships.

Early driver entries are rolling in to the speedway, plus a multitude of product awards from leading industry manufacturers are backing their support of the event.

The CSN is building into a true national event, as there are already several regions represented in the early entries. Drivers planning on attending this event are urged to pre-enter their cars, as; the track will reserve a spot in the pit area for their hauler. Plus it allows fans to keep informed of the drivers coming. Drivers not pre-entering will not receive a reserved pit space and they most likely will not get to park where they would like. Visit the track website to get registered today, as we expect a very full pit area; as was the case in the 2008 event.

As of 9/9/09, here are the current sprint car driver entries, as well as the region they represent:

Cowtown Sprint Nationals Pre-Entries:

(LS=ASCS Lone Star Region, SO=Sooner, GS=Gulf South SW=Southwest, NAT=National Series, INV='Invading' Driver)

41 Jason Johnson, Eunice LA NAT *'08 CSN Runner-Up

74E Claud Estes, Jr., Godley TX LS

87 Aaron Reutzel, Clute TX GS

88R Andy Rea, Crowley TX LS

With nearly $10,000 added to this year’s CSN, we expect somewhere between 60-80 sprint teams to converge upon Cowtown Speedway for this event. We will update the entry list periodically between now and race weekend.

And several of the industry’s top manufacturers are showing their support of the CSN by offering great awards to sprint teams. Sprint teams; make sure to support the businesses that support your racing at the CSN. Here is a current listing of CSN event awards:

Keizer Wheels http://www.keizerwheels.com/ – (10, total) $50 Product Certificates for the Saturday heat winners.

HRP (Hepfner Racing Products) http://www.hrpracing.com/ - (8, total) $50 Product Certificates for the Friday heat races.

DMI Racing http://www.sprintracecomponents.com/ – (16, total) $50 Product Certificates for the second place heat race finishers each night.

Tear Off Apparel http://www.tearoffapparel.com/ - $200 off an order of 12 dozen or more t-shirts for the “Best Appearing Car.”

Simpson Racing Products www.SimpsonRaceProducts.com (8, total) $50 product certificates to the winners of the sprint B-features.

If you are a manufacturer and would like to join the excitement of the CSN and looking for effective solutions for marketing your product, please email TheBOSS@ShopTheBoss.com for more information.

Here is a breakdown of the weekend’s events that include four premier racing divisions:

Cowtown Sprint Nationals. This is the 2nd annual event, and it’s a sanctioned point’s race for ASCS Gulf South, Sooner and Lone Star regions. Drivers from throughout the region, plus many National invaders will all be slugging it out in a 30-lap, 22-car, $2,000 to win feature race on Friday October 9th and a giant $8,000 to win, 35-lap, 24-car championship feature on October 10th. Last year’s winner was the 2007 Knoxville 410 Sprint Car point champion, Brian Brown; with 2008 ASCS National Champion Jason Johnson finishing in second. 49 sprint drivers competed in the inaugural event, with even a larger field predicted for this year. A practice night is scheduled for all race divisions on Thursday October 8th. Drivers who have not been to Cowtown in 2009 are highly encouraged to attend, as the track has been widened nearly 15 feet since 2008.

Drivers. There is no entry fee for sprint cars at the Cowtown Sprint Nationals. In turn, sprint teams need to pre-enter at the track website in order to have a pit space reserved for them in the pit area. That allows the track to keep organized and race fans informed of whom they will see racing throughout the weekend. Pre-entries must be received by October 3rd. No phone-in registrations or pit reservations are allowed. The pit parking chart will be completed on October 4th. Visit www.CowtownSpeedway.com to preregister.

Fans. You can expect to see all of the sprint car stars from the South, including the top 10 in points for each of the ASCS Sooner, Lone Star and Gulf regions. Plus, many ASCS National Series stars can be expected, as there is no National series event scheduled for the weekend. Many ‘invaders’ from across the U.S. will also take on the ¼ mile high banks; as was the case with last year’s winner, Brian Brown. The pre-entry list will be published as drivers sign up at the track website.

Topless 100. As in the 2008 Cowtown Sprint Nationals weekend, the wildly popular 9th annual Topless 100 for Modifieds will join the sprint car action. Their feature will take place following the sprint car feature event. Advance online pre-entry is highly recommended by October 3rd, as it reserves you a pit space and will save drivers $25. No phone-in registrations or pit reservations are allowed. Practice will be held on October 8th with qualifying action on October 9th. Early entries include Sam Hafertepe Jr., Scooter Bates, Glenn Leuschner, Tom Lorenz and Danny Caldwell.

Topless Limited Modifieds and the Winged 600’s Championships will round out the racing action with each winner taking home a $1,500 payday. Advance online pre-entry is highly recommended by October 3rd, as it reserves you a pit space and will save drivers $25. No phone-in registrations or pit reservations are allowed. Practice October 8th and qualifying the 9th.

Two-day grandstand passes. Increased ’09 purse, but no increased ticket or pit prices! Fans can save $10 by purchasing their tickets online at the track website through October 8; as 2-day adult grandstand pass will cost just $35. Tickets will be available at the gate on race night for $20 on Friday and $25 on Saturday. Youth and child tickets will remain at just $5 and $2 on each night. Visit www.CowtownSpeedway.com for complete details, including the event flyer. Pit passes are $35 each night and are available on race night by cash only; as the track payback is in cash. No checks allowed.

2nd Annual Cowtown Fan Fest. On October 10th, race fans of all ages holding event tickets for that night’s Nationals finale will be allowed into the pit area from 3pm until 4:15pm. Fans will be able to check out the cars and stars in all four of the race divisions, take pictures, visit with the teams, purchase team apparel & merchandise; plus get a behind the scenes look before the action takes place on the track. Plus, many prizes will be given away to race program holders attending the Fan Fest. Last year’s Fan Fest grand prize received a sublimated pit crew shirt from Kevin Ramey.

Travel Tips. For flight options, www.Travelocity.com is a great source of information, especially by clicking their ‘Last Minute Deals’ section that includes hotels and even car rentals; many at heavily discounted prices. Also note that DFW serves as a major airport hub for the entire U.S., and with a bit of planning, you can fly in and out during the week affordably; so you can return for the following weekend’s racing action.

Weather. October is typically dry and highs in the 80’s. We will monitor the weather as the event date gets closer.

It’s Almost Here. We look forward to see many new teams and faces at the Cowtown Sprint Nationals, and please visit CowtownSpeedway.com for the latest event news, as the Nationals page will be updated regularly.

Plus, Don’t Miss These Upcoming Sprint Events In The Area, Which Are Also Listed Within One Web Page at the $400,000 www.SouthernMonthOfMoney.com:

These events are all listed at www.SouthernMonthOfMoney.com (I had to cut this post short, due to excess characters, sorry...)

Six-Time Knoxville Raceway Champion Enters Cowtown Sprint Nationals

Six-Time Knoxville Raceway Champion Enters Cowtown Sprint Nationals

Kennedale TX (9/10/09) by DarinShort.com. When you talk about sprint car drivers nationally, this particular driver has career statistics that rival some of the best:

-Six-time Knoxville Raceway track champion, with 47 feature wins.

-Six-time Huset’s Speedway track champion, with 84 feature wins.

-244 career sprint car victories in 17 states; including 17 wins in 2009 alone.

And now, in his first ever appearance at Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale Texas, Altoona Iowa’s Terry McCarl has officially entered the Big Game Treestands #24 in this year’s Cowtown Sprint Nationals (CSN). The race is to be held October 9-10 at the high-banked ¼ mile speed plant in the Ft. Worth suburb of Kennedale Texas.

Terry commented: “I’ve heard a lot about Cowtown Speedway, and I like the way they’re promoting the track; so I want to show my support by taking part in this growing event.”

He adds: “I’ve watched some video footage from the racing at Cowtown, and it looks like there’s a lot of passing, which is really important, as the ASCS Series is loaded with talented drivers that will all be racing at the Cowtown Sprint Nationals.”

He also plans on interacting with race fans throughout the weekend, including taking part in the Cowtown Fan Fest scheduled before the Saturday finale. Terry will release more CSN plans at his website www.TerryMcCarl.com in the days leading up to the event, so make sure to visit his site often for the latest news.

Cowtown Sprint Nationals Quick Facts:

- Since Cowtown Speedway has been completely reconfigured for 2009, no winner has won from the front two rows of the 3 ASCS feature races held in 2009…and one winner came from an 8th row starting spot.

- At the last ASCS event, two out of state drivers made their first-ever Cowtown visit and ran 4th and 12th in the feature race, showing how quickly new drivers can adapt to the wide racing surface.

- All CSN drivers are urged to pre-register (online) for this event, as it reserves a pit space for their team and helps the track stay better organized. Pit space is limited, so if you have specific parking needs (like a large trailer), you should enter your car as soon as possible; as we will have close to 200 cars total at this event.

- Fans, you won’t want to miss out on this big event. Right now you can purchase advance tickets on the track website and save $10 off of race night pricing. Just $35 will get you two full nights of championship racing action, plus access to the Fan Fest on Saturday. Kids and Youth tickets are just $2 and $5 per race night.

- Nearly $10,000 has been added to the 2009 CSN race purse – without additional price increases to fans or race teams.

- Complete event information, including flyer, Fan Fest, pre-registration, pre-entry list, online tickets and much more can be found by clicking www.CowtownSpeedway.com then clicking on the ‘Nationals’ link.

The real question is becoming, who will walk off with the Cowtown Sprint Nationals title in 2009?

Will it be an ‘invading’ driver such as Terry McCarl or Sam Hafertepe Jr.? Or first-ever visitor in 2008, Brian Brown, who left with the CSN title? Could it be one of the strong contingent of Cowtown regulars such as 2-time ’09 ASCS winner Kevin Ramey? The Lucas Oil Series is scheduled off that weekend and several of those teams are already entered, including 2008 Driver of the Year and defending Series champion Jason Johnson or 2008 Short Track Nationals champion Tony Bruce Jr.? Will one of many of the top ASCS regional drivers hit the set-up and steal the spotlight and upwards of $10,000?

One thing is for sure, if you are looking for great entertainment at family-affordable prices; you will not want to miss the Cowtown Sprint Nationals on October 9-10 at The Fastest Li’l Dirt Track In Texas, Cowtown Speedway!

More Early Entries Stream In For Cowtown Sprint Nationals

Kennedale TX (9/15/09) by DarinShort.com. Nearly a dozen more sprint entries have arrived since last Wednesday’s initial announcement for the Cowtown Sprint Nationals presented by ShopTheBoss.com and Lone Star Speedway. And now, early entries for the Topless 100 for Modifieds, Topless Limited Modifieds and Winged 600 Championships are coming in as well. The $85,000 event is set for October 9-10 at Cowtown Speedway and features the stars and cars of the ASCS Lone Star, Gulf South and Sooner regions. Plus, several Lucas Oil National ASCS Sprint Series drivers have entered, as their schedule is ‘off’ that weekend.

It’s very important that drivers pre-register for this event, as it reserves them a pit space and helps the race track put together the jigsaw puzzle of large tow rigs in the pit area; and helps the announcers to keep fans better informed.

To pre-enter, please go to www.CowtownSpeedway.com then click on the “Nationals” link on the home page. Scroll down the Nationals page and there you will see the quick, 2-step registration process. The cutoff for preregistration is October 4.

Premium spots in the pits are going fast, and phone in reservations are not accepted. Only drivers that are pre-registered will be assigned pit space. Those spaces will be staked with the driver’s name on them on practice night, October 8th. Drivers not pre-registering will be parked wherever the track deems best on race night.

The track is expecting a field of around 60 sprint teams, and nearly 200 cars total by race time, which will make for a very full pit area.

'Bill W' Returns To Announce 2nd Annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals

Kennedale, TX (9/15/09) by DarinShort.com. Driver entries are flowing in, a record total purse for the track has been posted, avid fans are snatching up 2-passes on the track website, and the drama is starting to build for the 2nd annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals (CSN) presented by ShopTheBoss.com and Lone Star Speedway. The event is set for October 9-10 at Kennedale (D/FW) Texas's Cowtown Speedway.

The popular 'Bill W' has confirmed that he will be on hand, as he was in 2008, to call the sprint portion of the CSN.

Monroe Iowa's, Bill Wright (AKA Bill W), has been on the media side of the sport for 13 years as a journalist, website editor, broadcaster and announcer. His weekly 'Knoxville News' recap can be found on racing sites worldwide. Bill W is one of the voices of HoseheadsRadio.com, which has broadcast all the shows from the Knoxville Raceway as well as the Short Track Nationals in Little Rock the last several years.

Bill commented: “The caliber of drivers choosing to run this event just keeps getting better and better! Can we top a last lap pass for the win like we had last season? I've heard the renovations to the track are awesome, and I'm going to be there to find out...and coming south to Cowtown from Iowa in October is one more bonus!”

Bill concludes: “And I appreciate the opportunity Cowtown Speedway has given me to be a part of it all once again in 2009.”

Cowtown Speedway is very excited to have Bill W back to call the action, which will further enhance the race fan's overall experience while at Cowtown Speedway. Joining Bill W to call the ‘Topless 100’ portion of the weekend's events will be the colorful track announcer and KEGL radio personality, D-Rock.

The CSN is a 2-day event, featuring many of the top sprint car drivers in the country. It is the final 2009 points event for the ASCS Lone Star, Gulf South and Sooner regions. Plus, the Lucas Oil ASCS national tour is off that weekend, so several of their teams have already entered.

Nearly $10,000 has been added to the 2009 CSN. The sprint cars will have two complete shows, with heat races (using the ASCS passing points system) and feature races. Capping off Friday will be a 30-lap, 22-car feature event paying $2,000 to win and $300 to start. The top four finishers will lock into Saturday night’s 35-lap championship that pays a winner’s share of $8,000 and down to $400 for 24th. The sprint portion of the weekend’s $85,000 purse tops $50,000.

Drivers planning on competing at the CSN are urged to preregister at the track website, as that reserves them a pit space for their tow rig and keeps everyone as organized as possible – including Bill W – which the race fans will appreciate.

Even with the additional purse, there is no extra cost for fans or race teams in 2009. Advance 2-day adult grandstand passes are only available through the track website. 2-day passes are just $35, which will save $10 off walk-up prices on race weekend. Adult general admission on race night will be $20 for October 9th and $25 for October 10th. Youth and kids ticket prices remain the same as weekly pricing, which are $5 and $2 for each race night, and are available at the track on race night only.

For complete CSN event information, including event flyer, 2-day passes, track information, driver preregistration; and more, please visit www.CowtownSpeedway.com and click the ‘Cowtown Nationals’ link.

The CSN kicks off the $400,000 Southern Month Of Money. Please click www.SouthernMonthOfMoney.com for all five event details.

We look forward to seeing all of you, plus Bill W and D-Rock, for the Cowtown Sprint Nationals at the Fastest Lil' Dirt Track In Texas…Cowtown Speedway!
