we have always wrapped our pavement tires in wet towels to help cure and harden them. They aren't made well enough to with stand the torque off the turns if left alone. and they burn up to easily. Tire failures cost us 3 wins in 06. I mean like chunks of the rubber coming off. blisters when hooked not loose. Dirt tire just make it an open rule and then everyone could do what they like. We found that to much treat lead to no grip the last 5 laps or so. In go karts treating was an art and legal at most venues. Shifter karts it was not legal and they would shread a treated tire anyway. Haven't been impressed trying to treat sprint tires no noticable gains. and many loss'es

The non-wing sprints using the one tire compound on the right rear has worked out great for the racing it is the best show you can watch now.The late models used to run the northern all stars with the 55 on the right rear and they always had great racing but they have since caved in and went ump with the softball tires which allow your rubbered up choo choo racing.I would like them to run the one compound on the right rear and check the tires and if they are caught cheating then take all of there money and points they have won the first time and the second time is they should be banned from any series for racing for a year bet that will get there atttention.

I think race tracks should be more on the durometer rule, if we are gonna have to run a spec tire it should be spec

I agree that a reading of the rules is in order...... Our group specifies that we must run one of three compounds from a designated manufacturer and has a maximum width, but otherwise does not list any other rule/specification related to tires in the rule book.

Have seen a chemical being sold by Kreitz in SC&M magazine, & the ad says it's undetectable....so yeah, I'd say it's pretty common.

Every sanctioning body can get around this without any sort of problem at all. Take a few tire samples from the tire company you're working with, durometer them. If some come out at 30, and some at 35, and they're the same compound, then make them have to derometer out at 30. Go buy a durometer, and after the feature is over, make them go to a designated area wait 5 minutes to cool, and durometer all over the tire. Take the 10 minutes total and gets rid of the cheaters. That's how they did it in karts, and after that we got a whole lot faster, weird huh?
