After looking at the the recent payout of the World of outlaws points find, it’s no wonder guys want to go wing racing. 5th place was like 45k and went up at least 5 per spot with second a cool 75k and the Donnie Schatz benefit was 150 grand. How does that stack up to our favorite wingless series?

And 90 races /year.. Travel expenses..
I was once told to be competitive in winged 410 in Central PA was $3k / race locally..and it was $5k on the WOO tour.. I don't doubt the source as he did both.. |

It was said on a message board, it has to be true...... By far the Woo purse, point fund, tow money, schedule, benefits to Platinum teams, etc is far superior to anything offered in the nonwinged series. |

In 2018, Donnie Schatz was top money winner in wings: $584,950. Top money winner in "traditional" was KTJ with $107,775 ( of course there are a few USAC events left)
Life isn't always fair, is it?

Racing is expensive. While the WoO has by far the best incentives for their guys it is also the most expensive to run. But I'd say the $5000/race may be low at least for the top tier teams and I'd also say that doesn't much more than make payroll for the 15.
On the other end of the spectrum, I'd say the local NW car spends in excess of $1000/race if they are good enough to win |
