What don't you guys understand? Why wouldn't a wingless race car of comparable horsepower make more straightaway speed than a winged one? The wing creates downforce that enables the car to get through the turns much quicker, but in a straight line all it does is create drag. And this is a mile track Duke is talking about; the straights are plenty long enough for the speed of a nearly drag-free car (by comparison) to overcome the extra speed a winged car is carrying out of the corner.

Duke is right on this one WOO cars are slower on the straightaways than champ cars one 1 mile tracks.
