Sad thing is, 80% of this is psychological. The more "crisis" and "bad news" the public hears from the administration, pundits and financial Guru's, the more people pull back on spending and investing. In turn, businesses struggle, lay off people or close their doors. It's a vicious cycle that is being completely mismanaged in Washington. These politicians are robbing us blind.

Wow like i said some people just dont get it! I wonder if you dont listen to a news station like fox how you would ever find out the truth on what is happening. There are laws being changed very very quickly each day and do you think nbc news has time to tell you the truth when they have stuff like Michelle Obamas wifes arms to talk about..
If you think taxing the rich,(rich guys dont work for poor guys)cap and trade, or global warming are going to help the economy or this years racing season you are the kind of person i just talked about that is not paying attention!
Like the guy who says you dont know what your talking but doesnt listen to any news on a daily or hourly basis!

Don't listen to Washington or the Idiots on TV. If all this idiots on TV"fox, cnn, msnbc," really were all that and had all the answers they would not be on TV. Some folks live in a DR. Everyone is entitled to their thoughts and opinions. We can point the finger at Gov, Politicians, Pundits,.....but question religion and think they should pay property taxes and you are the devil.... Think of that tax base that is untapped....Biggest tax shelter fraud in our country.Nah, We will just keep raising taxes on smokes and Beer. The most discriminative tax there is. I really find it interesting that very smart people make logical choices in their life 6 days a week but come Sunday they can forget common sense and believe some really weird sh*t that makes no sense 6 days a week. Personally? What ever makes you feel good is OK with me. Live and let live.
But mention taxing churches which operate like any business in this country and you are the devil. Look around and see how much land they own and money that a lot of these places generate. I still do not understand why Religion costs so much money. Believing in anything I thought was FREE.

This post is not to slam any religion or religious people. All I am saying is LOOK AROUND open your minds see outside the box for a minute and make choices for yourself and your family. Screw the TV pundits, The politicians, etc. THINK FOR YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally, I'd take Glenn Beck over Keith Olberman any day but both of them are not of interest to me. I watch CNBC's Squawk Box and so far they have been pretty fair in reporting things.

Agree 100% but will the American worker work for the same money as an illegal? I guess time will tell on all sides. Also somebody else wrote about the media and all the doom and gloom, if you remember they report good or bad full force until another breaking story develops. Just like the war in Iraq front page when it started 2nd page now, if people would just start to believe we can work through this then the economy might show signs of a recovery before the end of the year.

Well this is a tough post to reply too. I agree things are looking tough for the little people BUT why is it that the sport teams are still paying so-called super stars millions of dollars to play a game. Polititians who have been in charge of the country for years now want to tax anything that moves. And the stories that we read about people that run big business that recieved billions in money to restore their company.......give out millions in bonus checks and the people responsible dont do anything about that. I dont know the answer but it`s way past time to pun ish the polititians that are taking care of themselves and their buddys....as far as helping kokomo i feel the track should keep prices as low as possible and the race fan will find a way to get there........i feel the race fans and race teams would do a much better job of running this country then the ones running it now......:checkered:

Well guys, I am from Kokomo,I work at Chrysler for the time being and things are tough around here. The prospect of starting a new job/career at 46 in this economy sucks. Unless you are directly tied to the automotive industry, hearing things on the news may sound bad, but when that news directly affects your family i.e. paying bills, college tuition and so on, it hits home just how bad the economy is and will get. My entire household income is tied the the automotive industry as my wife works for General Motors also. I am not ******** or complaining, as we have both been blessed with good paying jobs with great benefits. But with the end in sight for possibly both incomes in our household, it is pretty bleak. We are lucky in the fact that we have lived well within our means, however ALOT of people around have not and I could not imagine the stress that those people are under. Hopefully everyone will make it through this and things will be better. I know that I will be at the races this year just as I have for the last 40, just may have to cut down on the traveling a little. And before someone says "You shouldn't have put all your eggs in one basket" answer this:Would you have turned down a $28 an hour job just to keep from having your income tied to one industry? Again, not complaining one bit about my situation. Just wanted to give my perspective from where I sit. Remember that it is easy to hear on the news that so and so factory closed and x number of people lost their job today and that not really affect you, unless you are one of those people or their families. Hurry up spring.. need to go racing.

Thanks for sharing this and putting a name on what is occuring in Kokomo. As for the "eggs in one basket", I am getting the impression that if you live in Kokomo your livelyhood is dependent on what happens with the auto industry, whether you work for them or not.
