GREENUP ‘HEATS’ UP AT STARS MID-WAY POINT WITH 3RD WIN OF THE SEASON
By: Michael J Guglielmucci

Morris, IL—With air and track temperatures reaching their highest of the year, the teams of the D’Arcy GMC Short Track Auto Racing Series were found making significant adjustments to their high powered race cars. For one team, the 120 degree track temp didn’t change the outcome at the conclusion of the annual Bob Tattersall Classic. Channahon, Illinois native and current national midget points leader, Brad Greenup, found himself parked on the front stretch of the Grundy County Speedway for the third time this season. Greenup, a former Bob Tattersall Hard Charger award recipient, started on the inside of the front row after original pole sitter Erica Ensor elected to start at the tail. Greenup led all 30 laps but it wasn’t an easy win. On the initial start, Greenup and Kyle O’Gara went two-wide for the first five laps before a caution flew. Greenup then held off the hard charging Ryan Probst before an extra push at the conclusion of lap 27 from Probst found himself facing the opposite way on the front stretch after spinning coming out of turn four. The final three laps went by with ease as Greenup pulled his Mahoney Environmental/Window World/Conrad’s Harley/Beast/Mopar into victory lane and atop the points. “This win means a lot to us. Winning the Tattersall Hard Charger has been one of the highlights of my career and now to win the Tattersall Race adds to it,” stated Greenup. “We had some issues early on in the night but my dad and my crew worked their tails off in this heat and got the car dialed in for me.” Kyle O’Gara, making his first appearance of the season at the Grundy County Speedway in the Guess Racing number 99, came home in the runner up spot. “It was a good night for us. The Guess Performance car was really good at the start but as the race went on it started to get tight through the corners, so to come home second isn’t too bad.” Tyler Baran rounded out the podium, coming home in third. “We had one of the fastest cars at the beginning of the race but couldn’t find a way to get around the guys ahead of us. We have had some little issues go on all season for us but tonight seemed to go well. A win is right around the corner.” Ryan Probst came back to finish fourth, while Nick Baran rounded out the top five.
Patrick Bruns picked up yet another win for his MWR team at the Grundy County Speedway in 2015 in the Illini Racing Series division. Teammate Max Pozsgai finished second, while Travis Mahoney, Erica Ensor, and Mike Anderson rounded out the top five.
2011 Classic Modified Champion, Ed Ensor, cruised to a comfortable win over Darren Ihrke and defending modified champion Greg Wills. Jordan Caskey found victory lane for the second time this year in the Midwest Legacy Series.
The D’Arcy GMC STARS series will have a week off before returning to the Grundy County Speedway on August 1st . For more information on the D’Arcy GMC STARS series, log on to shorttrackauto.com or follow them on Facebook at facebook.com/shorttrackauto
