A man who never, ever forgot where he came from. Lost his penske ride, only for being stubborn, and listening to his heart, and running sprintcars, and silver crown, even though roger told him no... Ran a sprinter with one lame arm duck taped to the wheel... Jumped out of a burning sprintcar, but not until it was safely in the infield, out of everyones way...came back from not one, but two horrible silver crown crashes... Ran open wheel because he loved it. Even though he could have easily won indy in the car that mears won in, many times. My hero, the legend, Gary Bettenhausen.
