Nocella scores upset in opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- East Coast driver Anthony Nocella pulled off an upset Friday in the opening night of the 17th annual Rumble in Fort Wayne, winning the 50-lap midget feature in his first appearance at the Memorial Coliseum Expo Center.

Nocella, a 22-year-old college student from Woburn, Mass., got inside Justin Peck in turn three on lap 33, then led the rest of the way, beating Bryan Nuckles by eight car-lengths. Derek Bischak was third, followed by Peck and Ross Rankine.

Driving for longtime car owner Bobby Seymour, Novella came from ninth starting spot in the 16-car field.

Jason Ormsby won the 25-lap non-winged dirt outlaw midget feature over Clay Sanders and Russ Gamester.
