By the time the checker flew Gary passed Lee Kunzman and Sammy Sessions for the win. I can remember it like it was last Saturday.

Gary was an amazing racer and a supreme talent that will never pass this way again.

Gregg,

That was my first ever trip to Winchester; my most lasting memory from that day was Larry "Boom Boom" Cannon's horrendous crash. He flipped most of the length of the front straight and wound up in the first turn. I believe he may have even made contact with the flagstand.

Gary B in that #12 Terre Haute National Bank sponsored car was always my favorite as a kid at DuQuoin. The first time I got to see him at Indy brickyard I think there were tears

One of the last remaining legends of auto racing has passed. You can use all of the fancy words to describe his driving style but to me he just flat out hauled it around the bullrings. Even after his accident at Syracuse, he showed his true talent. The Larry & Gary show entertained so many of us back in the day. I am so glad that I was able to attend his USAC Hall of Fame induction ceremony. RIP Gary B.
