Illini Racing Series begns 20th year

The Illini Racing Series kicked off it's 20th year of providing competetive, affordable, fun midget racing with their annual membership meeting today at Heroes West. The meeting was well attended and everyone had a good time. The general membership appeared to be pleased with the continuation of positive growth for the club. The new 2011 rule book was released, with the minor changes being discussed. The completed version will be posted on the web-site soon, which is currently being restructured. It was announced that there will be another tire choice available for the left rear, so as to produce better stagger. Other topics discussed included tire pricing, insurance, radios, and reports from the National Midget Forum. The 2011 Schedule was released, which includes 15 - 17 races at five different racetracks, 10 pavement, 5 - 7 on dirt. Highlights on the schedule include the opportunity to race with the new STARS organization for four shows, begining with "Susan Spencer Night" at Morris on June 18th. We will have the opportunity to honor our 5 time Champion and Grundy Co. Hall of Fame member Susan Spencer. We'll also be with STARS for the Illinois State Championships, and the Bob Lockard Memorial. We are also looking forward to returning to Rockford Speedway, where we will open our season on May 28th. Another highlight at Rockford will be on Sunday night July 3rd, when we will be there alongside the Must See Extreme winged sprint cars. It should be quite a show!
