Gas City Vs. Brickyard 312.5
1. Green Flag Laps: Gas City; 135 through sprint car feature. Brickyard; 125 laps.
2. Caution Flags: Gas City; 6 through 11 heat races and 2 "B" mains. Brickyard; 6 Caution periods. "World's Greatest Drivers" unable to make turn 2 on first lap without incident. 1 caution flag classified as "competition caution". 3 "debris" caution periods.
3. Gas City drivers and crews must deal with changing track condition. NASCAR drivers receive "competition caution" to deal with changing track conditions do to Sat. night rain.
4. Cost: Gas City; $12 or $0.09 per green flag lap. Brickyard: $85 or $0.68 per green flag lap.

I'm no big NASCAR fan or anything but when you consider the Brickyard paid $438,000 to win and $134,000 for 43rd the ticket cost doesn't seem that bad. Gas City paid what $2800 or $3000 to win and $400 or $500 for 20th even with the doubler.

Well, you also need to calculate the entry fee and pit passes for the drivers and teams. I bet that adds up for NASCAR.

some of us only paid $6 to get in gas city with the club discounts....

I don't know this for sure, but would be willing to bet, little to none of the ticket receipts go toward the purse at any of the nascar shows. Corporate monies, tv contracts and advertising revenues make up the vast majority, if not all the purse. Wonder what the purses at a local sprint show would look like if some of the money nascar gets were available to these owners and promoters?
