Joey Paxson Wins Again at Rushville

After rain washed out Friday night’s race, the Midwest TQ Racing League presented by Jenmarco.com returned to Rushville, Ind. and Joey Paxson made it a clean sweep, winning both races held at the Rush County Fairgrounds this season.

Paxson, driving his brother Mike’s #71P Ripberger’s Auto Repair / Smith Installation / Amazing Powder Coating / Weiler Auto Body Drinan Honda three-quarter midget got the jump on polesitter Callie Wolsiffer and led all twenty-five laps taking the win ahead of Wolsiffer, Tate Martz, Ronnie Combs and Aaron Percell. Tyler Wooten, Rick Robinson, Jon Steed, Brandon Watson and Brayton Leisure rounded out the top ten.

Percell was the night’s fast qualifier with a lap of 13.032 seconds. Robinson won the Jackson Oil & Solvents Duel for Fuel, and Perfect North Slopes heat winners were Martz, Paxson and Wolsiffer.

Rookie Bret Johnson was the Duane & Sonja Alexander Hard Luck Driver, Wolsiffer was the Tony Stewart Racing Rookie of the Race, and Brandon Watson passed seven cars in the feature to earn the Steed Motorsports Hard Charger award.

The MTQRL season resumes July 10th at the Shelby County Fair, followed by races July 11th at the Kokomo Speedway and July 14th at the Bartholomew County Fair.

On Friday July 10th at the Shelby County Fairgrounds in Shelbyville, Ind. adult general admission is $10, racing begins at 7:00 pm, and fireworks are at dusk. The following night, July 11th, the MTQRL TQ’s will be the support class to the USAC sprint cars at the Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind. for “Indiana Sprint Week” where adult general admission is $25.

The MTQRL fair season ends on Tuesday July 14th with “Tony Stewart Foundation Night” at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ind. Adult general admission is $10 and children under 12 are $5. Racing begins at 7:00 pm and the feature will pay $500 to win, $125 to start with all positions increased.
