Thanks. It helps that both myself and Jeremy Standridge can write programs, which gives us a little advantage to play around with that kind of stuff when time permits. It's not quite as "live" as we want it to be, but we only take one computer to the track which has to first be used to create lineups for use as the track before we can use it to do MOWALive stuff on the internet.
Last night there was a really quick turnaround from our heats to the dash. We had to have the top driver draw for an invert before we could generate dash lineups, get them printed and by the time we got the buttons pushed for MOWALive the dash was on the track. It will get better and cooler as time permits. MOWALive is kind of our toy to try new stuff with, but now we've been bitten by the internet video bug so that's occupying our play time away from the track. |

Thanks for sharing the link. That is a great mobile site!! It is a nice tool for fans and race teams.
For $200 any track using Speednet can show live mobile lineups and race results. Posted via Mobile Device

From what I saw last night, most race series could learn a whole lot from this MOWA group. You guys do it right!

Yes Bill... Speednet is great and I highly recommend it. If we had it to do over again, we would probably use it. We started writing our own program just for kicks when the series started and have been building on it for so long that it's tough to go to something else and see hundreds of hours of work go to waste. It also lets us try new things based on our core program without having to wait for someone else to develop it.
But for other tracks and series out there, coming from someone who knows a little bit about what's involved... I would highly recommend not only using speednet, but in buying the modules that let you do live and interactive stuff with it. It's a very robust program and the price of the modules are more than fair. Support is excellent as well. |

Ken, it is always better to be a leader than it is to be a follower.
Keep up the great work. Posted via Mobile Device

I really do need to point out how incredibly great our staff is. We have a very small sanction fee so that we aren't siphoning money that could have gone to a purse, a $100 membership fee with the vast majority of that going to supplemental driver insurance and no fee for temporary membership or to draw a pill. Our drivers raise our own points fund of over $10,000 through an auction at our year end banquet. We haven't had much success on the sponsorship front although we keep knocking on doors. Hoosier Tire has been an invaluable help and we have been with them even when the rest of the 410 wing world was on another brand. But it's a member/driver group with no profit at the end of the rainbow that we try to run really lean.
So what that means is that we have to find great volunteers that are smart and capable to commit to driving 2-4 hours away to do what they do at the track with usually just enough compensation, if any, to pay for the gas to get there. We have a great group of staff that are in it for the right reasons... if any one person were to leave our group, it would be a huge loss and a tough one to replace.

Maybe you guys should teach the other organizations how to do it. I can think of one major one that can't seem to figure it out. You guys do an excellent job. I believe things will only get better for you, once more people realize how professional you run things. Your doing a Great job.

Promotors take note........
Driver tee shirt sales, stickers and picture sales, etc. inside spectator seating areas.........Frisbee Toss's ............Koozie and other giveaways.........T-Shirt Slingshot Giveaways......Fan involvement........Attractive Trophy Girls........PR Man with microphone in stands...........Race Line-ups announced that could be understood before any cars fired up........Kept program moving at a good pace......... These things are not much, but these are the things that fire a crowd up, kids like it, parents like it............. Minimal $ investment for a series that will work wonders to invoke new fan interest..... These are all of the things that the MOWA series did at TSS on Saturday evening........ Promotors take note.......... Because for a Series basically in its infancy, these guys are doing it right........ |
