An IOW idea for the Smackdown....

I was thinking tonight while mowing my yard, that it would be fun if we could get a bunch of people together and pitch in whatever you could afford to help out some of the drivers and teams at the Smackdown. The Smackdown pays good money, but not everyone will make it in the big show.

Maybe I am being unrealistic, but I think it woould be great to come up with, lets say $1000,and then give 10 teams that may have had a misfortune $100 apiece. Something along that line. I'm far from wealthy, but I'll throw in the first $20 just to get things started. So if you have an extra $1 or $5 or $10 or $20 or whatever amount to throw in we could make this happen.

I've just run this idea across Dick Monahan and Monica Clauson, and they said they'ed be happy to help out. They will be there during the day Thursday, and they could help collect for this. Monica has said that their motorhome could be a drop off spot for anyone that would like to donate. I've got to work Thursday, but will be up after work, and around all day Friday and Saturday to help collect too. Anyone else interested in helping?

Then I guess the thing would be to ask for ideas on how to distribute any money brought in. Who do you give it to?? Here's some different ideas. 1st car to flip in the C main. Hard luck driver. Who came in towing on an open trailer. That sort of thing.

Any ideas?? Post them here,or you can always PM me here.

Sounds great maybe we could sponsor some laps if there are any left.
Just let everyone know where to drop off the money.

Someone else is doing lap leaders for a set amount per lap.

I'd just like to raise some money for teams that might run into a bit of bad luck. Or for a hard charger. Or someone that overcame obstacles this weekend. Its open for every racer really, not just the budget guys. Thats why I am open for ideas on who to give the money to,depending on how much is raised. I use the figure of $1000,and would like to split that 10 different ways. That would make 10 teams a little happier than just giving it to one team for something.

The biggest difference between the lap leader and what we are wanting to do,is that there is no set amount of money that we are asking for. If you have $1 to contribute, thats fine $2 is even better and so on. If I can get 1000 fans to give $1 theres the $1000 goal I have. If 100 fans give $10 theres the $1000 goal. If we get more than that, then we'll just make up more awards,or hand out a bit more. Open for suggestions.

As noted above, "Camp Clauson" is a drop off point for fans wishing to donate. I dont know where they are parked, but its fairly easy to find the Clauson's motorhome Just look for the one with the most people around it,and chances are real good you have found it !!
