On the old style steel and alum.halibrand and similar front hubs using the 1 large spin nut, how do you go about removing and changing the bearing races? thanks

Some people use heat, although you have to be careful with aluminum not to get it too hot. You can also lay a bead of weld around the center of the race and it will basically help shrink the race and it usually just falls out.
I'm sure some people use a punch, but you run the risk of damaging the hub. |

If you use a propane torch, and set the hub up, so it has room enough under it, for the race, just warm it with the propane, and it'll usually just drop out. Some hubs have notches, either cut in, or cast in, that lets you get behind the race, with a long, skinny punch, if it doesn't just fall out. Slow, and patient, is the key word. Bob
