Re: IMS Sold to Penske

With the benefit of Covid-influenced hindsight I think we can safely say that the Hulman George family had the good fortune to sell at the top of the market when they did.

Re: USAC points question

Thanks.

I always thought race series licenses were part of the conditions for being allowed to go on the track. Guess not for USAC. Presume it's something like "USAC honors certain other series'...

Re: IMS Sold to Penske

Roger - always smartest man in the room right? - what was he doing in the early '90s? He started up a Winston Cup team, with Rusty Wallace as his driver.

NASCAR had already passed IndyCar by 1995....

18 sprint cars on the paved half-mile. Bobby Santos won. Taylor Ferns 2nd. Kody Swanson 3rd. Santos made some sweet passes on the outside moving up, going for the pass for the lead midway but the...

Re: Kahne

Kahne had to get paid by Hendrick the 2018 season whether he was racing or not, so Kahne drove for the Hendrick-affiliated #95 car. Hendrick money is gone, no one was going to offer him close to that...

Re: Usac: Bc39 entry list up to 54 as larson, bell, bayston,

The B-main should be awesome, let alone the A.

They'll probably have to have a C right?

Re: Daytona crowd so small today

My thoughts:

-plate racing in a nutshell-that race, it's one giant clusterf*** that has no bearing on the rest of the season
-yeah, stage racing is so great, we're halfway through the race and...

The Unofficial Rules of Auto Racing

Been working on these for most of a year. Pretty happy with them as they are now so putting them out there for your reading pleasure. They are meant to be tongue-in-cheek, some funny, some serious,...

Re: Bommarito 500

We left the track at 12:40am Central Time. I was driving to west of Indianapolis and got there at 6am Eastern Time.

Re: Bommarito 500

At the time of the crash he was 3 laps down and everyone else was still on the lead lap, if the race had stayed green til the end, Boat would've finished 4 laps down and Alberico and Rickards...

Re: Bommarito 500

I attended as well. From parking to concessions to leaving the track, I could tell they underestimated the attendance they could get. A good problem to have for a promoter. For that reason, I'll give...

Re: Brickyard 400

Watching the race I'm just slackjawed at what modern auto racing has become. Not a full list by any means:

-we see a thunderstorm coming, command to start engines a little after 2:30, race starts...

Re: Kyle Larson

Hendrick may be desperate. All indications are they want to be rid of Kasey Kahne as his sponsors are leaving after this year and Kahne's a driver that's had a very good ride for a long time and not...

Re: Hoosier Hundred Reschedule

I'm seeing the State Fair starts on August 4th and runs until the 20th, so 2 weeks before that is Friday, July 21st, Brickyard 400 weekend.

Silver Crowns run IRP on July 20th and Toledo on July...

Re: Montpelier

Yeah, they shuffled around the schedule. Midgets were done at 10:45. Then they ran the modified B-main, sprints and saved the modified final for last. I left after the sprint car feature a little...

Re: Montpelier

Thought the midget heats were pretty good. Some of them were stacked and you had some hardcore fights in the ones that sent Darland and Abreu to the B-main.

Didn't know Kyle Larson was going to be...

Re: BC @ Indy

Scott Harrington did mortgage his house to run the 500.

Also, comparing NASCAR to Indycar. NASCAR has double the races, with the exception of the Indy and Pocono 500s they're longer races, and...

Re: BC @ Indy

Last I heard for full-time season sponsorship was $5 million. So maybe six nowadays. Greg Beck the last year he ran full-time was doing it for $3 million and that was bare bones. $20 million is...
