I remember when Sam started the MSCS series because I was one of the guys who DIDN'T want to see the wings come off!
As I remember it, Sam started the series for the guys who wanted to run "NON WINGY" on a regular basis. All the local tracks were debating whether or not to go non wing or not. I remember that the series was for the low budget guys/teams that wanted some regular scheduled events and didn't want to travel all over the country. The tire rule was put into place because they were available at a considerable lower cost than regular tires. As I remember it they were $140 and would last several races. I don't remember the steel block part of it or all the other rules but I know it was good series for the regular guys. By saying "demise" I simply meant that the series is not at all now what it was in its conception. Its a good series but thats just what it is. Anybody that pays $10k and $5k to win is gonna draw all the good cars and drivers. In my opinion the series is just a USAC support series now and thats OK. But it isn't the series it started out to be. |

Something else I think we should consider is limiting the LEFT rear wheel to 14" and no "OW" tires.

I think there needs to be discussion about purse and exactly how much would there be to win on a nightly basis in this series. Because if your making the cars cheaper to race, and you only compete for $300. Your back to square 1. Now if the series is paying what most local tracks are paying right now, with the cheaper car on total cost, then you'd have my attention. You can cheapen up the series all you want. If you drop the purse too, then its pointless.

If you are looking for inexpensive racing with good competition see my earlier post on heartland racing association. They have iron block spec motors but any one can race with them. They just have to run 15/8 restricters and MD62 right and 42 left rubber. Last year we allowed +50 and +40 on the durometer which worked fine but kept encountering gray areas to ***** about. Kids were getting started with 5,000 to 8,000 dollars worth of used stuff and bumming tires off the wing guys and learning to DRIVE a race car.

As stated before, it will pay 600 to win, the pay is better through the pack and it pays 150 to start the feature. If you are in the top ten in points you are guaranteed 200 against winnings. There will be 100 for those not making the feature. I would like to pay more, but we have to start somewhere. You will find you don't have to win to go home with winnings like alot of other tracks. Remember you are racing against your own level of competition. The reason for the steel block engines was to limit the amount of racers with fancy motors, how many hight dollar teams are going to run a steel block motor for 600 to win with all the other races available to them, but simple where the investment is not to high. Thanks for the questions.

I do realize it would be very tough to pay 12 to 1500 to the winner in the beginning. In my opinion, if this series did pay that, it would gather much more competition and the pit area would be jammed full. If this series is paying $600 to win, then how is it any different than running at Paragon for $500 to win, $100 tow money, guarenteed to make the show, and probably with the same competition level as this series would be. (if it was paying $600 to win.) I noticed the comment about ("how many high dollar teams are going to run a steel block motor for 600 to win"). Well, probably none. Even if the purse was lets say 1200 to win, and a high dollar team wanted to stick a steel block in the car and come run,(which I highly doubt) then thats where your reason for the club would come into effect, Basically saying the higher funded team really wouldn't have an advantage on anyone. Yes, there would be other areas a higher funded team would have an advantage, but it wouldn't be much.

All sounds good Mr Sam.Keep it simple,we are in this to have a good time in a hobby we love.If its bigger paying shows you guys want run mscs or usac.Look at todays open wheel modifed racers, big paying shows is what put all the high dollar guys running them and ran the small man out.
