SHOW ME THE MONEY!!! IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY!!! Whether it's buying air time or finding advertisers, it's all about money. Speed or Versus does not give away free air time.

Early in this thread a question was asked concerning USAC's sanctioning fees: Are they the same for a non-points Special Event? I would hope not. Otherwise, what's the real incentive for Lawrenceburg to include USAC knowing a lot of the big guns won't be there?

I'd really be interested to know the numbers here, or is that basically none of my damn business, just shut up, buy a ticket and drink the Kool-Aid (and don't waste any time over the loss of the Hut 100; an American open wheel tradition).

Alky,

I would say that the silence is deafening.

Pretty sure they moved the Western from one AZ track to another, on the same weekend that it has always been, which had no other races scheduled that weekend...

They actually moved the Western World back a week after USAC scheduled the Tulare races. It now is the weekend after the NASCAR race, instead of the same one. I would say that not many of the USAC teams would hang around the extra week to run in Tucson, although some of the drivers might.

Derek, after this latest bombshell, I'm beginning to believe it may be too late. Don't you wonder, how bad do things have to get, before the obvious fog clears on 16th street?

I got labeled a "bitter old man" for questioning (the current) USAC's lack of appreciation and understanding for tradition. Now the most traditional midget race in USAC's storied history is not "postponed" (makeup date?) it is CANCELLED for 2009. And what is the latest on the pavement sprinters for next year? Are they being cancelled also? I just can't wait to see what the next "enhancements" will be. I mean, holy crap, even the most hardcore kool-aid drinkers have got to be getting a bit nervous. Like a great deal of folks on this board, I grew up with USAC, I love USAC. It's just sad to see the direction it's heading.

If midget racing is to survive, it needs a complete revamp, immediately. A totally new way of thinking. Unfortunately, as long as product manufacturers are in organizations wallets, it will never happen.
David.
