Derek, after this latest bombshell, I'm beginning to believe it may be too late. Don't you wonder, how bad do things have to get, before the obvious fog clears on 16th street?
I got labeled a "bitter old man" for questioning (the current) USAC's lack of appreciation and understanding for tradition. Now the most traditional midget race in USAC's storied history is not
"postponed" (makeup date?) it is
CANCELLED for 2009. And what is the latest on the pavement sprinters for next year? Are they being cancelled also? I just can't wait to see what the next
"enhancements" will be. I mean, holy crap, even the most hardcore kool-aid drinkers have got to be getting a bit nervous. Like a great deal of folks on this board, I grew up with USAC, I love USAC. It's just sad to see the direction it's heading.
If midget racing is to survive, it needs a complete revamp, immediately. A totally new way of thinking. Unfortunately, as long as product manufacturers are in organizations wallets, it will never happen.
