Agreed!

We could have had a new date 9-13 after Terre Haute or 10-11 after Granite City. Hard to imagine
both those dates were booked for Du Quoin. Let's get Davey Hamiliton - Mike King to look at
promoting these shows.

I know it rained the night befor, but I believe the horses still raced.
I arrived at the DuQuoin fairgrounds at 12 noon Sunday,blue sky,sunny and hot.
Was told by security the the race had been cancelled.
Walked around to turn 3-4,talked to a few fans sitting on the wall,told them it had been cancelled,they thought that might be wrong as it was too early to do that....!!!
I lived in hope.
Plenty of campers,fans up on the hill.
By 4pm the track looked ready to race on,nature had done the perfect track prep..!!
Sun still shining,still hot.
No more need be said....!!!

if i had the bank roll i most definately would promote it. thats been a life long
dream. i don't have the money to promote it but i would offer $500 to the
promoter to let me do the track prep. i think it would be really cool to give the fans
what they hope for every year but never get anymore. at races that used to get great
crowds but now are dwindling the promoters and sanctioning bodies could actually go in
the stands and ask the remaining customers what they could do to try to improve the
product! it seems everyone i talk to complains about the same few things. i hope the names
i mentioned in my posts don't take it personally for nothing personal was said. i just disagree
with their philosophies and am not afraid to let em know.

So much for tradition. Not sure who the blame should be placed on... whether on Track Enterprises, USAC, The DuQuoin State Fair, Mother Nature-- it doesn't really matter to me. What does matter to me is that this would have been my 19th Ted Horn 100 and I'm only 20 years old.

The only one I've missed in my life was the first night race and that was probably the worst possible one I could have missed.

I intend to keep the total to one, but thanks to no re-schedule, so much for that.

I question the "by 4pm the track looked ready to race on". You are indeed correct about the weather being sunny and hot. As I mentioned on another thread, with a lot of hard work this show could of been run. It would have been a later start but I feel it could have been done. It rained over night and into the morning but quit and the sun came out and helped dry the track. For the Monday ARCA race, they had to water the track a couple of times to keep the dust down.

I was told by one of the modified guys that the infield was really wet even on Monday which is why the race was postponed on Sunday.
