Sam what do you think the purses will be? Also how many races, in what region? Same general area as MSCS? Also I think the steel blockers would like to see tow money, maybe even spread the purse more evenly. Also Bret Mellenberdts Dad Already has a series like this going out in the tri-state area of Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Its got a website and its called the Heartland Racing Association. They averaged probly 18 cars a night and everyone took home at least $125 Also $15 pit passes if your a member.

To answer questions, everything is in the proposed stage. Yes this will take in the Indiana, Illinois, and Northern Kentucky. The purse structure is proposed to be 600 to win 150 to start and 100 to start B Main or tow. The SCORA Sprint Car Series is in the planning stages, but is moving forward. We have 26 commitments from racer at this time and now I am going after races. We also may share some events with MTI out of Michigan. They are in their third Season and have the same type group. Sam, I think this person has hit on an interesting point. Decent used roller sprint cars can be had for $4,000 and less. That's VERY comparable to a good used modified roller. A guy can take his modified motor (let him run his carb. who cares?), drop it in a sprinter, and go race for much larger purses and starting money without any bigger investment. The rub will be getting that into their heads. Put them on a HARD tire. Take that expense right out of the deal, and it will also keep the super high horsepower guys in check. And, a word of caution regarding the tracks you run...take a good look at the locations of the folks who are commiting to run your series. Pick tracks that are central to where they all live. Steel block folks don't have the travelling expense budget that aluminum blockers have. Start with a central group of tracks and racers, then in the following years once you've built a decent field of cars, you might venture out a bit. $.02 Best of luck to you. :thumb

Al Soran, Thanks for your comments. You and Kenny have valid points. We already have interest from some Modified people and that is one of the reasons I am starting this series. A tire is a good idea, but at this time I will not harness the racers with this added cost. Alot of the racers have stacks of used useable tires ( No Expense). You are right that we need a central track location, but this is not a perfect world and I am working on that. Getting tracks intersted may be a harder sell than the racers. When the tracks realize they can run an outstanding Sprint Car show for a reasonable purse should show them a profit potential. Carbs are welcome. When we ran the Support Series with MSCS Troy Baker was Rookie of the Year with a carb Sprint Car. Also the MTS Michigan group has a front running carb Sprint Car. Burg still has a couple TBA's on its support classes. Personallly Id love to see em. ITs a sprint car. Good points on Mod motors being allowed. If they can throw rooster tails in a 2400pd car. They can certainly wheelstand a sprinter.

Proud member here of NMMRA - the New Mexico Motor Racing Assn., a steel block, non-wing sprint group for over 50 years. We run a mix of everything between 305 and 406, with a set of rules that distinctly favors the low-budget beginning racer. With our typically dry-slick tracks here in NM, the extra weight and HP of the 406 is not necessarily an advantage. We invert the top 16 for the "A" main and arrange heat races by point average, giving more drivers a chance at getting a checkered flag. If interested, check out our website at www.nmmra.com

A series like this I believe would pull me outa retirement. Being able to race and eat?! It'd take me a little bit to get use to that.

At this time we have twenty commited racers. The big news is that Vermilion County Speedway, Danville, Illinois will be our home track. Plans are being worked out for a good 2009 schedule at Danville. They will run open Sprints every Saturday night and may work in something special on Saturdays for the Steel Block group. Other nights will be scheduled for the Steel Block show, possibly Friday, Sunday, or Wednesday dates. Mailers have gone out to 28 tracks and will be followed up with phone calls and personal contacts. As soon as we get some solid contracted dates I will send out sign up profile papers to those on the commitment list. I have talked to a number of modified and stock car racers that want to race this class, but are waiting for more solid information before making the change. Anyone that has a Sprint roller or a Steel Block Sprinter for sale let me know for we are building a market for those items. It looks like 2009 will be a building season and 2010 should be fantastic. Osborn this is another reason for this series.
