I'm still wondering. I do know that a good Dart steel block weights 210 pounds before boring and a motown weights more then that. Thats what I'm upset about a dart alum. comes in at 95 bofore boring and cost less to lighten then a steel block . I thought it was 1425 on scale without driver. Your choice on the amount of fuel. I'm still waiting to see whats next. You are right though a good steel block can have 800 plus HP but most don't. Thats why this was supposed to be the affordable way for us to make a dollar. Now we can compete with the 30 40 or 50,000.00 dollar guys and be happy. No big deal I guess. We'll just see how it goes. If a person came up with the money to have 3 4 5000.00 races for steel blocks only; how many of you would build a steel block to race. If they had the same rules that this was supposed to be. This is just a ???? I have to everyone. Not saying such a thing could ever happen, but if it did what would everyone do then. please respond I really want a response to this. this is not a hit at any one person or series it's just a ????? The disadvantage of the steel block motor is that the additional weight is in the motor compartment. If the cars only have a minimum weight to make, they can put the additional weight they need anywhere on the car. This can prove to be an advantage which, in essence, would give the aluminum block cars two advantages - additional HP and the ability to put weight where it will do the most good.

A solution we proposed last year was to have additional weight added in the engine compartment, between the radiator and motor rear motor plate. Typical steel block and aluminum blocks should be weighed, and the resulting difference added - if it's 50#, then all aluminum cars must have a 50#weight located in the motor compartment. If it's 100#, then add 100#. The proposal was denied as being too hard to enforce.

All added bias that is needed to comply with the 1,425 lbs (minimum with driver) weight rule must be installed in between the engine plates.Any bolted on weight will be inspected closely.

There are literally dozens of ways to hide weight to make it look like the car, aluminum block or not, weighs the minimum without having "additional" bias necessary. Steel floor pans, stuffed kickrails/bumpers, loaded torque tubes, etc. Is it my understanding that all of these will be deemed illegal? It seems to me that the rule should state that all aluminum block cars will have weights attached in the motor campartment, whether they weigh 1425 or not.

Also by the way, it's also necessary to remove and weigh the additional ballast. I've seen everything from hollowed out weight bars to styrofoam painted to look like weights.

Min weight is 1,425 with driver,period and I don't care how you get there.Just make darn sure you cross the scales at 1,425+. We have alum blck cars that weighed in at 1,290+ without the driver and I've seen with my own eyes a steel block car weighing in at 1,285+123lbs driver= 1,408.

So, by the rules, which is it? Added weight will be between the motor plates and inspected closely, or you don't care how I got there, just make sure I weigh 1425?

Wine before the first race. You all didn't even give the series a chance before you started whinning about this new series and it's rules. Sometimes you have to adjust rules to make something work. They likely wouldn't have had a good field of cars at the first few races so they had to do something to make up for lost car count. fans don't usually like to attend races with a bad car count. so they did something to try and improve the car count because the feed back wasn't that great. To much negitivity give it a chance before you start whining.

Tim. If you have to add weight then it will have to go between the motor plates. However, if you don't have to add any weight and the car and driver weigh a total 1425 then your good. I'm not sure why your having trouble with this.If you make the trip from Texas then your pit pass is on me. Love to have you.
