ALL SPRINT CARS ARE NOW WELCOME!!!

As of 4/20/10 the American Sprint Car Tour will be allowing Aluminum engines to compete with us for the entire 2010 season. ALL ALUMINUM block cars will have a minimum weight of 1425 pounds with driver. Our no c0ck-pit adjustable shocks or weight jacks rule will be inforced/ The American Racer, ASCT stamped MC3 right rear tire will also be mandatory. This will be in effect starting at our opener on May 8th at the Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, Indiana and will continue thru to our season ender at the Clay County Speedway in Flora, Illinois.

Being a fan of all racing I want to this series succeed as much as the next person. I feel they need to set the rules and quit changing them just as SCORA did 1 season ago.

I am not sure of why they made this ruling but I am sure it impacts several decisions of drivers that do run steel blocks. Several drivers have been on here promoting this series and now they go and change the rules 2 weeks before the 1st event.

I wish them luck but do not feel they have their feet firmly on the ground yet.

I did enjoy the 2 steel block shows I seen last year.

With all the promoting the ASCT officials do on this site I have yet to see a post from them?? That puzzles me as well

John Gurley's probably too busy deleting all those posts where he said they would never waver and allow aluminum engines.

I have a pretty good idea of why the decision was made and why it was made before the season started. There simply were not enough steel block cars that could commit to running the opening season ASCT schedule. Without a full field of cars at each event, you don't have a show and therefore you don't have a series. Steel block car counts were a problem with the SCORA series as well.

ASCT has a purse structure that pays deeper into the field instead of putting all the money in the winners pocket. That structure is needed at more race tracks. Opening the series to aluminum block cars with a minimum weight rule (1425 with driver) will help balance some of the weight advantages the aluminum block cars have over the steel block cars while allowing the ASCT a better opportunity to have full fields.

I applaud them for making this change before the season starts instead of flip flopping the rules mid season. I like the format and direction the series is trying to go in and wish them success. I think this series is still the best place for steel block cars to race by making aluminum block cars have a minimum weight rule. JMO

While it's not a bunch of weight, by writing rules that allow teams to add weight and remove cockpit adjusters, you're forcing teams to spend more time and money......if your gonna run with the Gurley group, it's your choice. But as soon as aluminum 410's start winning all of the races there, the teams with steel motors will feel "betrayed" by the ASCT and possibly leave the group, or they'll switch to aluminum motors. Either way, costs go up.

Too bad that they couldn't stay true to their mission and let the series develop and grow - before it even had a chance!

This is what I was talking about a few mo. Ago they are not creating a cost effective series they are just making a new one just a way for them to make money and this whole deal will go down the tubes just as fast as it was formed! And by the way just so everyone remembers this is the group that said they would never give in and this would be strickley for the steel block but before the season even starts they change their minds what a joke and a bunch of bull sh$$!
