Setting the schedule conflicts aside for a moment.....
It is important for USAC to race at Iowa with the Nationwide series at Iowa Speedway for USAC and the competitors because it provides exposure for both the organization and the drivers. The Silver Crown cars and sprint car teams are competing with the "Nationwide Series" not the All-American Challenge Series, or NASCAR Silver Cup Series. Racing with this series allows a driver to demonstrate their talent and perhaps secure a ride to enhance their earnings- and for the series to perhaps gain the attention of a industry executive wanting to be a title sponsor. On the personal level some of this doesn't matter a darn to me - I sometimes think racing was a whole lot better when the sponsors were Fike Plumbing, Windmill Truckers, and Talk of Town Tavern etc. However, I'm trying to race for a living nor trying to field a team. The problem is that USAC is stuck in a middleworld - if it swims too far from one shore it will drown and yet sees fruit tantalizing hanging from trees on an island at present beyond its reach - that creates some of the hassles being discussed here. |

Thats too bad.......It looked to me he was gonna win too. They are a young team and will learn from their mistakes. He had a great run going tho....he certainly was the only one doing the passing....
