A true testament to someone who I'm sure reacted out of sheer care about a competitor. :applaud:
Mr. Mills is a credit to the racing community. Anyone, infield crew, flagmen, fellow drivers, photographers or videographers who are willing to go to those lengths to take care of drivers should be commended. A salute to Mr. Mills, who I'm sure, didnt' even think a second before racing to a driver's aid! That is what the racing community is all about. shame the rest of this world couldn't take the same hint. |

Great job, Dean! Your video instincts are incredible and this unique ability carried over in this act of heroism. I am proud to call you my friend.

I was there Saturday night and saw first hand the action of Dean. As Royal exiting his car flames coming from his lower legs Dean started jestering frantically to get attention to the severity. No other officials, safety crew or even fire extinguishers were nearby and Dean did not hesitate to jump into action. My wife was screaming at the top of her lungs at what was unfolding at the start finish line. I was more concerned for Dean than Royal, seems those cotton t-shirts burn a little quicker than a drivers suit. Kudo's to Dean and thank you Scott for posting the story. On a side note Scott and I believe Robert Mayson have stuck the new handle of "The Calgary Flame" on our competitor from the North (Mr. Adderson).

Not mentioned yet was that Dean threw the camera he was holding to the ground before running across the track. Probably should have hit "record" first but I guess he had other things on his mind.

Kudos to Mr Dean Mills. I'm sure the gentleman ( along with his family) will probably never forget that help Dean Mills gave him. I've seen situations at racetracks were there are gang of guys standing watching and something like this happens, and everyone in the group waits for someone else to do something in regards to helping
