LMAO, I can't believe I forgot that (I graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa....). Yes, the Will Rogers Museum is a cool place.

Ok, I've spent this time talking up Elmers, I felt that I'd better let you all in on the BEST BBQ I have EVER had. Unfortunatly, it is 90 miles to the NW of Tulsa in Ponca City, OK.

I worked in the music biz for 17 years (sound engineer). During that time, I did sound for a private birthday party for a very wealthy family. A company named Head Country BBQ http://www.headcountry.com/ catered it. I have been hooked ever since. Their BBQ is unbelievable, their list of championships, including a WORLD championship is testament. Even if you can't make it up there, do yourself a favor and stop in to most any Oklahoma grocery store and pick up some of their BBQ Sauce. It's the only sauce I will ever use and order it by the gallon off their webpage!

It's not there any more. Last week, when I drove by it had been torn down and they were building something else in its place.

The closest I have come across is Scottsburg on the way to Louisville but if I've driven that far I just drive a few more miles to KingFish.

I live in the Owasso area and work in Tulsa. Saw this thread and wanted to give you a few more unique places to eat:checkered:

BBQ Place ...

It's located in Owasso... which is about 15 - 20 minutes north on the 169 is EXCELLENT and a hole in the wall.

It is called Trails End BBQ (8888 N. Garnett Rd., Owasso 74055)

If you shoot pool and want food at the same time...
Cowboy Sharkies
5840 So. Memorial Dr.
Tulsa, OK
www.cowboysharkies.com

Hamburger - 50's Diner atmosphere - 5 & Diner (located at the Harley Davidson dealership) 3641 S. Memorial Drive.

Ice Cream - Braum's! They are all over Tulsa. Best milkshakes

Spaghetti - Spaghetti Warehouse - Downtown Business district.

Italian - Zio's (71st Street) or Johnny Carinos (41st & Sheridan)

Mexican - Mexico Lindo various locations in Owasso and Tulsa

Hope this gives you a few more choices!

Indeed, all of the Sonic Drive-In's went "out" a little while back. That did include the one in the Castleton area. I used to go there every so often for lunch. It's a good place and we hit it up quite a bit last year. Mmmmm!

The Rib Crib is mighty tasty, so Elmer's must be pretty good!

Cheddar's is usually a regular stop while we're out in Tulsa, too. They have really good food and nice portions. A great lunch stop.

I don't think you can ever go wrong with Johnny Carino's. I hit up the one in Muncie quite a bit.

Ahh, I'm going to miss it. Good times and good food...
