Two missdemenors for him and treatment and release for her.

SOme things I don't like and are a total cop out:

In Fike's proposal, he says he will:

Set up a Racing Against Drugs tent, including anti-drug displays and resources for addicts, at each NASCAR track.

He's indfinately banned from NASCAR meaning I doubt he will be ALLOWED to do what he proposes.

Give a motivational speech each day he is at the track, talking about the importance of remaining drug-free.

To WHO? his fellow competitors?

Display anti-drug logos or ads on his racing vehicle.

What vehicle? I highly doubt he drives a Nascar event again.

Mention the
program during every news media interview.

This will last six months tops.
Chuck

Think all of you need to move on here. A lot of heresay/speculation about a newspaper/press release/whatever. I hate to ruin your day guys but the racing community is not drug free and all people are NOT created equal. Example: The courts in California/celebrity trials=high priced lawyers, free passes. Unfortunate for our society.

I wish Fike the best of luck for his recovery, however it is going to be a real test because his body is fighting him every second for that next "High". Very few recover, most just say they are.

I agree with Jerry, Chuck, Aero, and POC Fan that think this "plea bargain" is B.S.!!

You do not have to be present at a race track to create a program that is presented at all NASCAR race tracks.

Anybody who wants to learn just a little about what recovering from an addiction to this drug is like should go see the new Halle Berry move, "Things We Lost in the Fire." It's about a lawyer who gets hooked and about a friend who never gave up on him.

Aaron Fike needs his racing friends now.

Agree with Chuck and Aero. Since almost all of us haven't the high profile position we would be wearing prison duds for several years not to mention a lifelong record with felony convictions.

That said, I hope Aaron can go the rest of the way, can stay clean and in the process can help to turn other lives around. If this indeed comes to pass I will feel better about the judges decision.

Gregg, who has no axe to grind and gladly gets off the soapbox.

It amazes me how "soft" people have become. Ive never understood how an addiction to drugs or alcohol can get sympathy from anyone. They call it a "sickness" B.S..B.S..B.S.......The first time they took the drug it was not a sickness it was a WEAKNESS. They were not "addicted". Appethy yes, sympathy HELL no. Now I dont know Aaron and don't care to, but whatever he gets he deserves.

Now all the weakkneed softies that cry "we need to cater to him and help him", when he has another weakness its just as much our fault as a society as it is his. Instead as a society we need to stand up and say listen you made mistake, pay the price, be a man, earn our respect. Setting up these programs is nothing but a kneejerk reaction to getting caught. If he really cared these programs would have been setup before he was handcuffed.

I dont care if he does jail time or not and neither should anyone else. IT DOESNT AFFECT YOU ONE BIT whether or not he goes to jail.

On the other hand everyone makes mistakes. You dont judge a mans character by his mistakes but rather how he reacts to these mistakes.

I guess the real judge in this case will be time.

I hope Mr. Fike does well but I dont fell sorry for him.

I guess nobody on this message board drinks...and if some say no.. Thats fine..Alot of people get hurt and killed by drunk drivers, Aaron Fike did not hurt anybody but himself. Let's see if can pull out of this.
