The Stapp 11 that Dr Foyt drove is I believe in the IMS museum, a purchase of the Foyt auction back in the 90's (I went, a neat deal. AJ was super that day).

The story I got was that Snider owned the chassis, and Foyt the engine.

AJ drove that car more than once, by the way. IIRC he drove that car later in 1974 as well.

I think that may be the paint scheme I will go with.But I need a pic of the whole car for one which I guess I could go by the 2 that you posted but I was wondering.Does anybody know if the rose on the front has any story about this car?

Upon further investigation. It is the 11 that was drivin to national championships

You can see it here. The cars burried amongst others and no clear way to photograph it but checking multiple photos you can tell it is a 11. That car was built by Grant King. If nothing else, that I am aware of, Stapp only built two champ dirt cars and they were both spring front cars not four bar.

I think B99 answered all our questions. Still a pretty and very neat car. The Rose on the Intake Cowl is a touch of class

Not sure, but this No. 1 might be the same car Swindell drove. The No. 11 sprint that Foyt drove in 1974 is in the IMS Museum. Stapp also has a car in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.

From what I understand, the Smithsonian's auto racing collection is extremely small because most examples are in such fine collections as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and private collections like Don Smith's.

At one time, the only racing machines in the nation's museum were a midget driven by Mario Andretti, the Stapp sprinter and the motorcycle driven by Crocky Wright through the Wall of Fire.

The white No. 11 in the photos that Chuck has linked to the thread is not the same sprint car car that Foyt drove at the 1974 Hulman Classic and at the the Indy Mile that was built by Stapp.

It is neat looking at the cars in the photos. Will be anxious to see Don Smith get his museum open.

The Foyt 11 car in question was a Stapp and is on page 53 of the March issue of SC&M. Note the grille in the car. It may be the only Stapp to ever have a grille. The story was told at the Hulman Classic, the first race for the car, that Foyt told Ziggy and Stapp he wouldn't drive it without a grille. They had to open a chrome shop on Saturday to get the grille chromed. Foyt later drove and won the infamous twin 50s at the Indy Mile in this car.
On page 78 & 79 of the same issue is a photo of the rose on the hood of Gary B's car. Note the D in the bumper on the car also. Gary had a long relationship with Tim Delrose and Terre Haute First National Bank, Don Smith, and the D and rose were Tim's trademark on his cars.
Those were the days when we lived near Toledo and made most of the sprint races. Then we moved to Colorado and I took up fly fishing and playing more golf and driving 600 miles one way to see a real sprint car race.

One of the Stapp dirt cars is owned by John Hollansworth in Hot Springs Village,AR. It is painted in Jr. Knepper's colors with yellow body and red 55 numbers. He had it at the Miller Meet at Milwaukee in 2007. He raced midgets mostly out of Kansas City and with RMMRA in Denver. He also tried to qualify at the speedway a couple of times but never made it into the race. His son John Jr. ran in the early years of the IRL.
