I do remember that the weight differential right side vs left side was different. I believe that the cars from the East were 65-35 percent while the ones from the West were 70-30. They also had a number of other things to work out inorder to run this show. A very competitive race and they put on quite a show. Unfortunately it was a one and done as they never returned again.
Mike, the year of that race at IRP was , May 13th, 1989. Just came across my ticket stub. I'm sure if I go through my racing programs I could tell ya who all was there. Lloyd

I went to the Star Classic for many years and thats a 1/4 mile track, and they always had good features there.

Wow Lloyd, you are the man. I didn't think it had been that long ago (time flies when you're having fun I guess) so now it has been made official, 24 years ago. If memory serves me correctly, they had a good car count and the racing was top notch. Thanks for the shout back Lloyd.

Well, I guess I should have read the whole thread first. Vukie that year sounds a little closer to what I was remembering. Of course, I can't remember yesterday much less that far back.

The NA$CAR modifieds raced several times at IRP during the 1980's. Maybe that was the race you attended.

One thing Bobby G wrote about back in June has now come true, after four years of driving a super at Oswego Shaun Gosselin joined the ranks of a supermodified feaure winner last Saturday. Shaun started his racing career in 1/4 midgets and moved up to Ford Focus Midgets before joining the super ranks. It was great seeing Shaun grab his 1st ever feature win Saturday. I look for Shaun to have a strong finish in this years Classic at Oswego.

Here is a scan of the Program from that night, and the entry list (not that all of these drivers competed). I have photos from that night as well. One thing I remember is that the air was heavy, and the supers with wings were creating a 10 - 12 foot long swirling contrail behind them.

Thanks for the info Keith. It was my first time seeing them in person. I do remember the air being heavy and the top wings were fascinating watching them operate. Pre entry list had 40 cars on it and I do remember it being a quality show. Sorry to say, it was just a one and done. Glad I was able to attend though.
