Donnie Adams was a super guy and he is missed. Doug Heveron is returning to the Little 500 this year for probably the final time with Don Heckman on the wrenches and shocks. :greenflag:

Thirteen days until the 60th running of the Payless Little 500. 13 years ago in 1995 Tray House won his second straight pole position with a track record time of 44.353 seconds for the four lap run. Donnie Adams and Bentley Warren, in the Glen Niebel sprinter, completed the front row. Warren took the lead for the first time on lap 137 and began a battle with Gary Fedewa that would last for over 200 laps. Warren led through lap 170 with Fedewa taking over for one lap. Warren resumed the point on lap 172 and held sway until Fedewa took over on lap 346. Warren was back in front on lap 369 and steadily pulled away to win by two laps over Fedewa. It was the popular veteran's first win in the Little 500. Behind Fedewa Tony Elliott was third (494 laps), Jason McCord 4th (492 laps), and Bill Tyler rounded out the top five (491 laps).

Eleven days until the 60th running of the Payless Little 500. 11 years ago in 1997 Gary Fedewa posted a four lap time of 44.950 seconds to secure the pole. Dave Steele & Brian Tyler filled out the front row. Bentley Warren, starting inside row 8, worked through the field taking the lead for the first time on lap 275 from Dave Steele. He led through lap 351 and retook the lead on lap 471, just 29 laps from the end, from Chet Fillip and went on to score his 2nd win in the sprint car classic. Fillip was 2nd with Steele 3rd, both one lap down. Five laps down in 4th & 5th, respectively, were Doug Saunier & Denny England. No time was recorded for the rain interrupted event.

I would love to see Steele get his second win this year. Thank you for the count down.

Ten days until the 60th running of the Payless Little 500. 10 years ago in 1998 Gary Fedewa claimed his 2nd straight pole position with a time of 44.262 seconds for the four laps. Jason McCord and Bill Tyler filled out the front row. Eric Gordon and defending winner Bentley Warren hooked up in a classic duel that lasted most of the night. Gordon first assumed the lead on lap 159 and held it until Warren took command on lap 191. Gordon was back in front by lap 273 and led through lap 321 when Jim Childers took over during pit stops. Warren resumed the point on lap 328 and stayed in front until, with 28 laps to go, Gordon passed him for the lead and went on to his 2nd win in the sprint car classic. Both Gordon and Warren completed the full 500 laps with Tony Elliott 3rd a lap down. A three car battle for fourth, three laps down, was won by Jim Childers over Keith Butler and pole winner Gary Fedewa.

9 Nine days until the 60th running of the Payless Little 500. 9 years ago in 1999 Jim Childers won his third pole for the classic and his first since '91 when he posted a four lap aggregate of 45.811 seconds. Jeff Bloom and Tony Elliott completed the front row. Texas native and Indy 500 & Daytona 500 veteran Chet Fillip took the lead from Bentley Warren on lap 365 and led the rest of the way to add the Little 500 to his already impressive resume. Eric Gordon was two laps down in 2nd. Kipp Beard (496), Billy Puterbaugh (492), and Jim Childers (491) rounded out the top five.
