The value of a well informed announcer goes far beyond the cost. It is unfortunate that the staff at Eldora opted to cut that corner. Not only does it detract from the best possible fan experience, it puts the track announcer in a hole when it comes to info, background, and the like. A track like Eldora, with so many travelling groups coming throughout the summer, the track announcer has a really big job to try keep the fans completely informed. Most series that retain an announcer do so because that way everything is said and done the same every time, for every team. And to make sure series sponsors get their plugs as well! Talk about crucial!!!
I heard Eldora's announcer didn't have a good night. The first show of the year it always tricky. Be a new gig or the fifth year, things happen, come up, don't happen, or, like Friday, the wheels totally come off. Please, give the guy a little break this time. It takes a bit to get completely comfortable working a show. A high profile place like Eldora, for USAC, when fans are expecting Rob Klepper? I hope I don't have to be that guy!

Dustin Jarrett is from a late model background.I think it is going to take while for him to get up to speed on the sprint cars.

No drivers is bad enough, but hours of no explaination for delay, sorrys etc. is inexcusable. Friday night was the most DISGRACEFUL performance in my 50 + years of being an open wheel race fan.
Meanwhile, the silence is deafening from management.
