I would think this format is for higher paying shows where they expect alot of cars. This is great though. I would rather see this sometimes than not at all

Anyone know if all usac rules apply to this race. Want to run it but sold my hans .

Are points awarded in qualifing races also....besides passing points???

Yes the points are awarded based on finish and number of cars passed. See the format from DO's reprint on the USAC site.

Yes. You get finishing points and passing points just as you ill in the heat races. The combined point total is used to determine the starting line-up.

The one thing I don't like about the format is the A-Main is started straight up. Maybe a die could be used to determine an invert. The die could be thrown on the front straight between the B finish and the A by the top point driver. The worst he would start is 6th and he could still end up on the pole!!
