While we are on this subject I figured I would toss this out for those that didn't know and are looking for a Hans. They have actually come out with a less expensive model. It weighs a little bit more but the safety factor is the same as their most expensive.......Knoke77

Jason, Where were you with this information back in April when I was paying $1000???? :emote20:

We bought it for the opening Lawrenceburg USAC show in April 2007 and immediately tested it on L'Burg's front wall and catch fence (several barrel rolls into the wall). Brad was uninjured but, there is no way of knowing if it helped, or not. He wears it all of the time now and has gotten comfortable with it but, I'm still skeptical of it's value in sprint cars.

That response was just plain dumb!:kookoo2:

It may, indeed, be dumb. However, I won't know until I see your data on the research that has been done with regard to sprint/midgets, rollovers etc. Thanks In advance for submitting your information.

Don't get me wrong. There may be research out there but, I have neither heard of nor, seen yet.

Your driver WAS NOT INJURED! Who cares why. He wasnt hurt. The hans as saved lives and has reduced head, neck and spine related injuries. Its proven on the track and verified in testing. All Facts!

I have the data that was submitted to and published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) comparing the crash safety of several different types of restraint

Send me an e-mail smbpreformance@yahoo.com and I will get it to you
The data is not sprint specific but does incorporate several different types of collisions

Thanks Sean I will do that. And Okie Greg, you are right that it doesn't matter why he "DIDN'T" get hurt!

USAC does not approve any one type vs another their rule is:

A SFI approved head and neck restraint system is required for the 2008 season.

If the Leatt-Brace system has been SFI approved then it can be used

I was under the impression none of the winged sprint car series mandated it, i believe it was a suggested device but not forced upon the racers. My opinion is that of choice, I think drivers should be allowed the option of a neck brace or a restraint system since there is no way of 100% proving that these devices are effective in side collisions. Speaking from a physics stand point with a little bio mechanics knowledge i dont see how they could effect side impact that much. We never see any testing on side impact just 30* impacts. We DO know that they are extremely helpful in frontal impacts, but they are more often on pavement than anywhere else... I just want to see a little more proof... until then Im for a choice.
