Back in April for the outlaw race they had to park all RV's and campers on the gravel lot behind the backstretch because the field was too wet. That might be part of the reason for the cancellation today. Sorry you guys won't get to see any racing tonight.

pretty sure it had all to do with parking I live 15 minutes away and over the last two days we have had 4 inches of rain. The fields all over the county are under water.

Greetings from the casino in Evansville, gang. When Jim posted the original message, we had just left Columbus under cloudy skies. By the time we reached here, the sun was indeed shining.

We checked into the hotel here downtown and after a nap I headed north on 41. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I found an empty parking lot. I guessed it was either a very good chance of rain tonight or may be even an earlier rain.

A bit ago, a hotel employee tried to get us set up with this laptop in our room. Anita mentioned that I'd been rained out tonight up at Haubstadt. The employee said that this area had been hit hard by a storm this morning. Enough said.

I trust the Helfrichs enough to realize that it would take an extraordinary situation for them to pull the plug. Disappointed? Of course, there is no one to blame nor should there be. This is life/reality folks.

The trip isn't wasted though. My wife is busy spending my retirment as we speak....

And tomorrow we head to Vincennes to visit our son and maybe see where my editor buddy Jim used to hide from the cops.

When life gives you lemons, etc....

Damn Jim............Just a little rough there don't you think...........Ron is one of the nicest guys that you will ever meet, and has forgot more history of this sport than most of us will ever know.......I just find the responses/attitude of some persons as uncalled for.

Jim Ron was 1 row below me at Bloomington Friday, and thats not the only race I've seen him at this year. Did you get off the porch this weekend?

Waiting for one WTH, sounds like you were the one waiting, Ron is one heck of a nice guy to say the least, probably forgot more about racing and been to more races than most of can ever hope.

Don't know where you got your info. I have been to sixteen races this year as of Saturday night and have been attending races at TSS since 1957. Earlene was really excited that Dave Darland was going to be there as she didn't go with me to Bloomington on Friday and missed seeing him drive to victory. We did see him take a hard fought fourth place at Paragon Saturday night.
If I ever said that I hadn't been to a race yet this year, it would have been before April 9th.
I think you have me confused with another person. There are plenty of IOW'ers that see me every week.
