When I first moved to Northern California in the mid-80's, the San Jose supers differed from sprint cars in a numver of ways; the lower frame rail had to be 2x4 rectangular tube, so a lot of the cars were sprint cars with additional tubing welded onto the lower rail; they also weighed a bit more than "sprint" cars. The big wings, were, for the most part, gone by then, since most of the cars ran conventional sprint wings. Old Open Wheel magazines had a few feature articles with pics of some of the San Jose supers from the mid-80's.....
Baylands and San Jose(Santa Clara County Fairgrounds) - I was fortunate enough to see races at both tracks....... |

Can't quite recall the exact date, but remember reading an article on the Super modifieds in a magazine, with the main focus being on two drivers, Mike and Mark Sargent. Ring a bell for anyone?

Maybe these were for the vision impared track scorers. Never mind, that covers most scorers.
