Koolaid welcome to IOW. Some of the differences between a silvercrown car and a sprint car
Silvercrown cars are longer and heavier then sprint cars, A silvercrown car weighs close to 1500 pounds, a sprint car weighs close to 1200 pounds. The silvercrown car runs a 355 cu in engine, the sprint car can run up to 410cu in engine. The Silver Crown cars run longer races, up to 100 miles or laps, on tracks 1/2 mile and larger. The Sprint cars usually run shorter races 25 or 30 laps, usually on tracks 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile. To sum it up, the sprint cars are faster, the Silver Crown cars are more of an endurance race where tire wear is an issue. I am sure others on here can explain some more differences. Thanks Z, would it be fair to say a silver crown car is easier to drive? What about operating cost and average pay out (to win and starting)

I wouldn't say that, but then again I wouldn't know. Operating cost? With a Sprint car you can run with different sanctions and local events, with a Silver Crown car you run with USAC.

The cost to run a Silver Crown car is more per race. But you spend less over the year because you only run a handfull of races compared to a sprint car.

A Silver Crown car is lazy compared to a Sprint car meaning it does not react as fast. But the speed you run in a Silver Crown car is faster because of the size of the track usualy 1 mile. If you put a sprint car on a mile it would be alittle spooky. So size does matter. I Know at one time they ran sprints at Phoenix on the pavement but I think they quit before someone got killed.

I know what you mean about sprints on big tracks... I saw them at Toledo wouldn't want to immagine them on anything bigger... was by far the fastest race I've witnessed in my 26 years of short track racing.
